On the West Bank of Keelung port, there is a hill with overlapping cliffs. There is an ancient cave at the foot of the hill, which is the famous "Fairy Cave rock" in Keelung. Xiandongyan is close to the sea, and its corner protrudes from the inner port of Keelung. It is called "xiandongbei" because of its potential to build a breakwater. From afar, we can see the blue sea and blue sky, the silver waves chasing the tide, and the waves hitting the cliff bank, surging. It is said that in ancient times there were immortals practicing in the cave, so it was named. After construction, the entrance looks like a double eaves double ridge Temple embedded in the vertical cliff. The cave is divided into two layers, the outside is the middle cave, and the inside is called the inside cave. Among the walls of the cave are lifelike stone statues and visitors' money, including regular script, line, grass and official script, making the cave a "calligraphy exhibition room". Li hole is divided into two holes. The right entrance is very small. The rocks inside are crisscross and zigzag. It is said that from the end of my tour, the left entrance is a little larger, just for one person to enter. There is a statue between the walls of the stone chamber, and a stone table below, but the handwriting on both sides of the statue is indisputable. The cave is more than 80 meters deep. There is a sky outside and a hole inside,. There was a "Daiming Palace" built in xiandongyan to worship Guanyin, and the Japanese moved the palace outside the cave. After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, the old worship was restored, the eighteen Arhats were plasticized, and the horizontal plaque was inscribed with "Yuantong hall". Now we collect the stones with scriptures on the side of the former cave and build a "scripture tower" for collection. Walking from xiandongyan to the breakwater to a low mountain on the left, there is an abandoned ancient fort on the top of the mountain, which is called "Dutch city". It was built by the Dutch when they occupied the fort. The fort is still intact. The city is ancient, green and fascinating.

historical origin

Founded in the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, it is a sea eroded cave. In the past, the sea water was beside the cave. Things changed and things changed. Now, due to the rise of the coast, it is several meters high from the sea level. There are many strange cliffs, strange rocks and natural terrain nearby. The formation of Xiandong rock was related to the change of coastal topography, which made the cave sink to the bottom of the sea, eroded into a cave, and then reappeared due to the rising of the coast. It's said that some immortal came here to practice Taoism, so it got its name! The sea erodes into a cave, and the entrance is not big. But on the door is the old hall of immortals, which makes a simple and regular script antithesis for the masses. It shows the history of xiandongyan in the past 100 years and its ambition to guide all living beings in the future. There is no other way to open the convenient door, and the practitioners have three times antithesis, but they are so compassionate. The master leads them into the door, and the practice depends on the individual. The convenient door has been opened, and they can testify to the truth No, it's all up to us; if we're lucky enough to get into a convenient door, we can still work hard

building structure

The cave can be divided into main cave, right cave and left cave. The cave is quiet, dark, winding and mysterious. On the stone walls on both sides of the main cave, there are many vivid Buddha sculptures and ink marks. At the end of the cave, there is also a Buddha statue for people to worship. There is a small hole on the right side, which is not easy to go deep. You can burn incense outside the hole. The hole on the left side is pitch black. You must bring your own light to go there. The width of the cave is different, and the side can only pass when squatting. About 80 meters, the field of vision suddenly becomes clear.

There is a climbing stone ladder beside the fairy cave, which can reach the fairy cave Park and Sheng'an palace. There is a viewing Pavilion in Xiandong Park, which can clearly see the container terminal operation ships and Keelung outer port, which is quite interesting in Lilliputian country! Sheng'an palace provides money for Mazu to protect the safety of ships. Another new temple is under construction, and it is just around the corner.

On the left side is a short mountain, on which there is an abandoned ancient fort, commonly known as "Dutch city", and the scenery is also considerable.

Tourism landscape

At the beginning of October, autumn tigers were rampant, but as soon as they stepped into Xiandong rock, a cool moment cleared away the depression and chagrin of autumn tigers, and the short-term feeling of dizziness and blackness immediately adapted to them. Maitreya, with a big belly open, greets the visitors with a smile. On the right side of the stone wall stands weixie Bodhisattva, and on the left side stands Kalan Bodhisattva. Inside, there are many ink treasures on both sides of the wall. The eight bold characters of overseas cave and unique world in the Tongye period of the Qing Dynasty make people think about the ancient times. They also convey the geographical situation of Xiandong rock, the simple construction of the interior and the vivid panoramic view. In menglongshan people's book, if there are immortals in the sky beyond thirty-three days, immortals are made by ordinary people. If ordinary people's heart is not strong, then they say that there is no other way to become a Buddha

It's just a strong heart. On the top of the wall, the four words "Ci Ling Yuan Yin" on the top right show people's deep dependence on xiandongyan Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to protect all living beings. These historic inscriptions are confined to the narrow stone wall at the entrance of the cave. Although they are crowded, they also show the value and rarity of the cave formed by sea erosion.

Inside is the yuantongbao hall, which is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. On both sides of the stone walls are the eighteen Arhats, the Duke of land and the Duke of Guan. The cave is made of natural stone, so it's dark inside. It's not suitable for people who are used to the bright city life. However, it also shows the frugality of Buddhism.

As you enter the cave, the light is dimmer. However, if you look carefully at the walls on both sides, you can see the vivid stone withered Buddha statues, one by one chiseling the wall and living there. The Bodhisattva dizang, the Bodhisattva Guanyin with thousands of hands and thousands of eyes, the Buddha Sakyamuni and the poor Buddha are solemn, which is even more fascinating.

Inside the hall is the Mahatma hall, which is dedicated to Sakyamuni Buddha. The hall covers a large area, so the 30 candle light bulb shows the darkness in the cave, but the darkness does not hinder the practitioners' practice. Just as the saying on the hall: Xianzi brilliant booth says, the cave is always dark and the environment is always clear. A star shows its brightness in the dark night, and the Buddha and Bodhisattva can get a pure land in the noisy and bustling environment Although the place is chaotic and gloomy, it can keep a clear and ordinary heart. On the right side of the hall is the temple of dizang, which worships the Bodhisattva of dizang king to open the way for the living beings; on the left side, it worships the eight immortals of folklore, which adds mythological color to the cave rock. Because the cave is made in nature and eroded by the sea, after a long period of erosion, water drops sometimes flow down the cave. When you touch the stone wall, the eroded rock debris is covered with the touch of your fingers. You are surprised and wonder how long it took for the weathered stone wall to be formed? If the weathering continues, how long can Xiandong rock exist in the universe? How many lucky people can be in time?

On the side of the temple is the Chan temple, which is said to have its Chan Master. In the past, he became a Taoist in this stone chamber. However, he is located in a remote place, and has been deserted for a long time, and no one is managing him.

Walking out of the cave and looking at Maitreya Buddha again, I suddenly think of a poem written by the Budai monk: when you plant green seedlings all over the field, you can see the sky in the water when you bow your head; when you have a pure heart, you will take the lead, and step back is to move forward. When a farmer transplants rice seedlings, one by one, he will plant them one by one. When he lowers his head, he will see the sky reflected in the paddy field. Only when our body and mind are no longer infected by the external material desires, can we be in harmony with Tao. While a farmer transplants rice seedlings, he will retreat while planting. It is because he can retreat that he can advance the backward work of transplanting rice seedlings.

On the left side of Yankou, there are two stone carved Avalokitesvara, which can be seen from the carved Japanese characters. They were built and worshipped by the Japanese during the Japanese occupation period. On the right side, there are stone steps to mount Xiandong park. The park has a pleasant view, overlooking Keelung harbor and facing the Great Buddha Temple from afar.

On the right side of the cave is a two-story building, with a squatter house on the second floor, a library and the Mosheng temple on the first floor. It is dedicated to Sakyamuni Buddha, the master of Buddhism, and is escorted by the four heavenly kings. The Bodhisattva of Tibetans has opened another room for worshiping, holding the support of the Pearl to illuminate the Lingtai division of the earth. The Bodhisattva of Tibetans' sad wishes are always moving and self-criticism.

The immortal Buddha has a destiny to go through the sea of bitterness, and the combination of heaven and cave makes Bodhi and Taiyang stay in the real world on the sea. After seeing all the scenes, objects, words and images in the cave, we can better understand the meaning of Gatha on the mountain gate. Only those who have a destiny can go through the sea of bitterness with the Buddha and prove Bodhi together.
