Native place dispute
There have always been different opinions about Yang Guifei's native place in the field of historiography, but from the relevant historical data, it is more sufficient to prove that Yang Guifei's native place is Rong County. The most authoritative one is the inscription of Yang Fei in Puning County, Rongzhou, written by Xu Zizhen in the whole Tang Dynasty. The inscription says: "Yang Fei, a native of YANGCHONG in Rongzhou, is ten li away from the city and has a nickname of Yu Niang..." YANGCHONG, Rongzhou, is now yangwai village, Shili Township, Rongxian county.
Xu Zizhen was a teaching assistant of four schools during the reign of Tang Tianbao. He was a contemporary figure with the imperial concubine. He was familiar with her life experience. The inscriptions he wrote should be highly authentic.
