Former site of Ningdu Uprising
The "Church of Jesus" is the former site of the general headquarters of the uprising. It was originally a Jesuit priest's residence. It was built in 1916. It is a Western European Roman building, covering an area of 280 square meters. It is a two-story brick and wood structure, with a height of 10.8 meters. It is surrounded by arched cloisters. At the bottom of the house, there is a damp proof and waterproof brick foundation 1.2 meters above the ground.
In 1987, it was listed as a national cultural relics protection unit and a provincial cultural relics protection unit. In 1995, it was also listed as the patriotic education base in Ganzhou.
The former site is located in majiakeng, 2km south of the city. It was built at the end of Tang Dynasty and maintained for many times in Ming and Qing Dynasties. The most recent renovation was in the late 1980s. In front of the tomb is a stone like archway with a width of 6 meters and a height of 3 meters. The tomb is round, 2.8 meters in diameter, with a high mound on the top. The inscription on the left side of the tomb is "a record of rebuilding the tomb of marquis Sun Li of Dongping in Tang Dynasty", and the inscription on the right side is Su Dongpo's "praise of Marquis of Dongping".
"Ningdu Zhili Zhou Zhi · tomb epitaph" records: "Dongping Hou Sun Chen Li tomb, in the south of the third bridge wushiying (now known as majiakeng) Sun Chenli is the ancestor of Dr. Sun Yat Sen. A study on the origin of Guofu's family written by Prof. Luo Xianglin of Sun Yat sen University (the 31st edition of the Republic of China) states that "the origin of Guofu's family is far away from the Tang Dynasty, so they all lived in the Central Plains before Tang Dynasty. Since the Huangchao rebellion in the Tang Dynasty, their distant ancestor, Chen Ligong, moved to Ningdu of Jiangxi Province to lead the army. From the Five Dynasties to the Song Dynasty, their descendants lived in southern Jiangxi and southern Fujian, and most of them came from Fujian and Jiangxi He moved to Guangdong. You songgong, the founder of Guangdong Province, was one of the branches that moved to Guangdong from Hetian, Changting, Fujian Province. "
