The Heavenly Southern Gate

There is an ancient pine next to the south gate. There is a legend about this ancient pine. It is said that Li Shimin, the king of Qin, fled to the West Jiuhua mountain alone when he was defeated in the battle. Just as the pursuers approached and were about to be captured, a group of martial monks suddenly jumped out of the jungle and stopped the pursuers. Four monks were killed in the battle, but Li Shimin was able to escape safely. After he ascended the throne, he came to the West Jiuhua mountain again and planted four pine trees near the south gate to commemorate the four dead martial monks.
