Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center
Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC) is located in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Wanchai, Hong Kong. It is one of the representatives of the latest coastal buildings in Hong Kong. In addition to large-scale meetings and exhibitions, there are two five-star hotels, one office building and one luxury apartment. Its new wing is expanded from reclamation, with several auditoriums and exhibition halls. It is distributed among the three storey buildings and is one of the largest exhibition halls in the world. On July 1, 1997, the ceremony of Hong Kong's return to China was also held there, which has become the focus of international attention. Its unique flying bird shape also adds a lot of color to the beautiful Victoria Harbour. The pavilion is owned by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and managed by Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xinchuang group.

Central history
The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) opened in November 1988. Since then, Hong Kong's trade exhibition business has been booming, which has established Hong Kong as a trade activity center in Asia and a pivotal venue for international conferences. When the Convention and Exhibition Center opened in 1988, the construction cost was HK $1.6 billion (US $207 million), excluding the land price. The first expansion project, completed in 1997, cost HK $4.8 billion (US $620 million), including reclamation. The second expansion, completed in 2009, costs HK $1.4 billion (US $180 million).
The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center is the representative of the latest buildings in Hong Kong. Its new wing is expanded from reclamation, with several auditoriums and exhibition halls inside. It is one of the largest exhibition halls in the world. Its unique flying bird wing shape also adds a lot of color to the beautiful Victoria Harbour. When Hong Kong returned to China in 1997, the China grand ceremony was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, which became the international focus at that great moment.
Facing the sea, phase 2 of the exhibition is the Golden Bauhinia Square, with a statue of the Golden Bauhinia symbolizing the return of Hong Kong. It is also the place where the flag raising ceremony is held every day in Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre has served as the main venue for a number of world conferences. Apart from the ceremony of Hong Kong's return to China held here on July 1, 1997, other conferences include the world bank annual meeting in 1997, the Asia Telecom exhibition 2000, etc. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre was also the main venue for the 2005 WTO Ministerial Conference.

Facilities for the disabled
The facilities of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) also cater for the needs of the disabled. The ramp at the entrance and the spacious passenger lift are designed to facilitate wheelchair access. The information counters at the entrances of Harbour Road and Expo road have been equipped with tactile planar map and inductor assisted listening system. In addition, the Convention and Exhibition Center also has blind guidance, toilets and telephones for the disabled, and parking spaces for the disabled.

The cargo handling / vehicle dispatching area covers an area of 20900 square meters, providing a total of 187 loading and unloading positions.

Center scale
The total rental area of the exhibition is 63580 square meters, and the daily visitor flow can reach 140000. The exhibition has an elevated walkway connected to the adjacent Wan Chai business district. The nearby public transport means include buses, ferries, mass transit railway, etc. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center is the second largest convention and exhibition venue in Asia, second only to Japan.
The new wing of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is located on a 6.5 hectare reclaimed island. There are three large-scale exhibition halls, providing an exhibition area of more than 28000 square meters, which can accommodate 2211 standard booths; there are conference halls of different sizes, covering an area of 3000 square meters, and a conference hall with an area of 4300 square meters. The hall can accommodate 4300 people for meetings and 3600 guests for banquets. It is one of the largest banquet halls in the world.
Urban legend
In Hong Kong, there are urban legends and geomantic omen that the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center looks like a turtle. When the turtle swims to Victoria Harbour, it means that the local games of Hong Kong will decline.
