The Yellow River Estuary ecotourism zone is located at the estuary of the Yellow River in Dongying City, Shandong Province. It has unique ecotourism resources of the Yellow River Delta, such as river sea intersection, wetland ecology, petroleum industry and coastal beach landscape.

On October 19, 2008, the Yellow River Estuary ecotourism area was announced as a national AAAA scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration. At the 2018 China Yellow River Tourism Conference, it was rated as "50 scenes of China's Yellow River".

On January 7, 2020, it was designated as a national 5A scenic spot by the Ministry of culture and tourism.

Ecological wooden plank road

The wooden plank road is about 800 meters long and 2.6 meters wide, all of which are made of Russian Scotch Pine antiseptic wood. After antiseptic treatment, it can be used in water for 20 years. The ecological wooden plank road stretches directly into the reed marshes and is surrounded by wetlands and reed marshes. Tamarix Hekou

Walking in the Yellow River Estuary, Tamarix trees can be seen everywhere, some three clusters of five trees, growing on the roadside fields; some hundreds of clusters of branches, climbing together, vigorous; more is the dense spread out, canggan layer by layer, green branches soft, become another wonder of the Yellow River Estuary. Tamarix, also known as "sanchunliu", blooms three times a year. It is a kind of excellent tree species that can resist saline alkali, drought and flood, resist barren, improve soil, beautify environment, prevent wind and fix sand. Tamarix also has the function of predicting rain. Before it rains, its branches and leaves are especially straight and moist, and its flowers are particularly gorgeous and intoxicating, so it is called "rain master". The ancients said that Tamarix "is the saint in the wood", but they did not say that. The flowering period of Tamarix is as long as half a year. The honey brewed by Tamarix is amber in color, fat in body, sweet and refreshing. It is a good tonic for nutrition and fitness. The hard branches of Tamarix chinensis can be used to produce tannin extract, flower baskets and bonsai, which is a rich gift for the people of Huanghekou. The Tamarix forest in autumn is full of clusters and vast, and the fire is burning on the plain, adding a solemn and stirring splendor to the dignified and vigorous Yellow River. On the Baili plain at the mouth of the Yellow River, there are dense reeds growing everywhere along the riverside canal. The leaves of reeds are gradually white, and the ears of reeds are wrapped up. Some of them are as tall as a few meters, and they are as thick as a thumb. The whole reed is as simple and neat as a thousand troops waiting to be inspected. When the full reed ears turn from light purple to pink, the reed flowers are in full bloom, and a piece of fluffy white flowers is in full bloom. When the wind starts, the reed catkins float in the sky with the wind, covering the sky and covering the ground, forming a magnificent landscape of "flying snow of reed flowers". It will last until the next spring, such as the sky is full of auspicious snow, which is amazing, forming a beautiful and exquisite silhouette.

red carpet

The "red carpet" landscape is a unique wetland natural landscape in the Yellow River Estuary ecotourism area. It is made up of clusters of wild plants about 20 cm high and scientifically known as Suaeda salsa. Suaeda salsa is called "yellow whisker vegetable" by the local people. According to the analysis and research of nutrition experts, yellow whisker vegetable has a complete range of nutrients, rich in minerals, and has the effect of preventing aging. It is a kind of natural green health food.

In general, it grows on the beach above the average high tide line, especially in the estuary of the Yellow River. At the beginning of spring, yellow mustard leaves a layer of green on the newly silted land at the mouth of the Yellow River. In late autumn, the flowering and fruiting yellow mustard gives the earth a gorgeous red dress. Looking far away, it looks like a sea of fire and a morning glow, so it is also called "red carpet".

Yellow River Estuary

Located at the intersection of Bohai Sea and Laizhou Bay, the Yellow River Estuary evolved from the gangwaxiang breach to the Daqing River in 1855. The estuary area has a vast territory, a good climate and rich natural resources. In history, there were more developed agriculture, fishery, salt industry and river sea shipping industry. However, because the Yellow River transports a large amount of sediment to the estuary year after year, the natural law of deposition, extension, swing and diversion of the tail flow has been continued. On both sides of the Yellow River, there are distinct vegetation types. The highest is the big forest farm with primitive momentum, the middle layer is tall and straight reed, and the lower layer is green grass belt. Take the boat to continue to move forward. The intersection of the river and the sea is just like a yellow and green ribbon, splitting the turbid river and the blue sea in two. The river is yellow and the sea is blue. Looking down from a high altitude, the Yellow River is like a huge yellow tongue stretching into the blue sea with clear longitude and latitude, which is known as a wonder in the world. The watchtower is located on the North Bank of the Yellow River Estuary. It was built in 1993 and is nearly 30 meters high. It looks like a sailing ship standing at the mouth of the Yellow River. It means that the Republic of China will sail for the 21st century. It also conveys the people of the Yellow River estuary's ardent wish for the smooth sailing and prosperity of the motherland. On the watchtower, looking at the Yellow River Estuary, the Yellow River water splits into thousands of hectares of green waves, rushing into the sea, which makes people feel excited and close. At the confluence of the river and the sea, the blue and yellow water lines are quite distinct, just like a beautiful concentric knot tied on the neck of the Yellow River Delta. Under the sun, ten thousand mu of Robinia pseudoacacia forest is undulating, the green sea is blue, rough and unconstrained. The drilling platforms of Gudong oilfield are like gold pagodas, majestic.
