Yongyuan xiuta
In ancient times, Tangpu was a commodity exchange center in the east of Shao, the north of Sheng, and the southwest of Yu. Because it was located on the side of Xiaoshun River, there were frequent floods in Ming Dynasty. Local people prayed for good weather to ensure the safety of one side. In 1624, it was built by 10 Wu Xiangsheng, headed by Wu Xueke, in the upper, middle and lower villages of Tangpu.
Tower structure
The shape of the tower is Pavilion style, the plane is hexagonal, each side is 2.3 meters wide, the height is 23.6 meters, the wall thickness is 1.01 meters, a total of 7 floors. Although the hollow is large, it cannot enter. There are three rolling top doors on the ground floor, 2 meters high and 0.5 meters wide. From the second floor to the seventh floor, there are shrines on each side, and the whole body is made of green bricks.
The tower is 24 meters tall and has seven storeys. The body of the tower is hexahedral. The side length of the base is 2 or 3 meters. It is made of green bricks with the word "Apocalypse" on the bricks. The outer body of the tower is in the attic style, hollow and without steps. The bottom two floors are carved with the words "yongyuanxiu tower", "Apocalypse civilization", "jiazilongfei" and the name of investor and tower master Qiu shisan. These scholars, who have invested in building pagodas, hope that they will be able to win three yuan in the local examination, the general examination and the palace examination in the future. I'm afraid that is the true meaning of the name "Yongyuan".
Building history
Yongyuanxiu pagoda is located on the top of the pagoda on the Jiangxi side of Xiaoshun, Tangpu Town, Shangyu. It was built in 1624. It was designed and supervised by Qiu shisan, a famous pagoda master in Ming Dynasty.
The tower was built in 1624 A.D. and named "yongyuanxiu tower". Because it was built by seven scholars, Tangpu people like to call it "Qixiu tower".
The pagoda was repaired once during the reign of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, and since then it has seen the vicissitudes of life for 200 years.
In 1962, it was announced as the first batch of cultural relics protection units by Shangyu County People's government.
In 1996, the tower was rebuilt at the government's expense. A layer of white anticorrosive material was applied to the outside of the tower, and the original cyan gray turned to white. In 2005, lightning rods were installed on the tower. The ancient pagoda, which has been around for nearly 400 years, is full of youthful vitality.
Due to years of sun and rain, the wall of the pagoda is mottled. At the same time, due to the change of the surface of the pagoda, the body of the pagoda is slightly tilted. Initiated by the municipal cultural management department and jointly funded by Shangyu municipal government and Tangpu town government, the tower was overhauled twice in 1993 and 2001 respectively. Now the tower is in good condition.
