synonym
Xuefeng Temple generally refers to Xuefeng Chongsheng Temple (temple in Minhou County, Fujian Province)
Chongsheng Temple in Xuefeng, also known as Chongsheng temple, is located in the south foot of Fenghuang Mountain in the northwest of Minhou County, Fuzhou City. It was built in 870, the 11th year of Xiantong in Tang Dynasty. Most of the existing temples were rebuilt in Guangxu period. Today, it is one of the five Buddhist temples in Fuzhou. Chongsheng Temple in Fuzhou, about 70 kilometers away from Fuzhou City, is the birthplace of Zen Yunmen and fayan schools. It is one of the five mountains and ten temples in the south of the Yangtze River, known as "the first jungle in the south of the Yangtze River". In 1983, Chongsheng Temple in Xuefeng was listed as the national key Temple of Buddhism in Han area.
The main buildings of Chongsheng Temple in Xuefeng are Mountain Gate, Dharma hall, Mahatma hall and Zhaitang. There are Buddhist scriptures and Buddha statues in Sanskrit, which are quite precious.
Brief introduction to temples
There are four ancient trees outside the mountain gate. It is said that the two large ones are planted by King Shenzhi of Fujian and Yicun of Tang Dynasty monks, which have a history of 1000 years. The two small ones are planted by monks in Ming Dynasty, which is also 500 or 600 years ago. The temple has a collection of Buddhist scriptures and Buddha statues in Sanskrit. Shi Guanglin, the common name of Lin Qi Chong, male, Han nationality, was born in 1953 in Fujian province Zhouning County salty Town People's place (now registered residence: Minhou County Xuefeng Chong Sheng Temple), graduated from the China Buddhist College, the Rock Hill Branch, now is the Fujian Xuefeng Chong Sheng Temple monastery, Fuzhou flag mountain Buddha Temple abbot.
Beautiful scenery in the temple
Among the 24 sceneries of Xuefeng, the hanging rock waterfall is worth mentioning
There are five layers, each layer has a different situation. The pool and gully are full of notes, flowing, surging, dancing and tumbling, which is a wonder. Walking along the mountain path, climbing step by step, you can feel like you are in the clouds. It's just the so-called "zigzag and zigzag on the edge of the stream, and the field is high and next to the mountain for farming"; the Nanti pagoda, the tomb tower of Yicun's ancestor, is Yicun's body pagoda, which is located on the right side of the Fatang. It was built in 907, the first year of Liang Kaiping in the Five Dynasties.
The tower is like a round bell. Each square stone is engraved with a pebble. There are more than 200 pebbles in total. There is a legend about the explosion of stone eggs. According to the records of Xuefeng mountain, there are 225 words of inscription and preface in the tower, which is a stone inscription written by Yi Cun and signed by Wang Shenzhi.
Kumu nunnery, hundreds of meters southeast of the temple, was built in 870, the 11th year of Xiantong in Tang Dynasty. It is said that it was the residence of Yicun, the founder of the mountain, when he entered the mountain. In the nunnery, there is a dead tree more than 3000 years old. Only the trunk more than 3 meters high is left. The hollow belly of the tree can accommodate more than 10 people. Now there is a gold statue of Yicun. On the inner wall of the tree belly, there is the oldest existing woodcut inscription in China, which records the historical facts of the building of nunneries and pools by the king of Fujian. There are more than 20 inscriptions of Li Gang and other famous people in song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties inside and outside the dead wood. However, after more than 1000 years of wind and rain erosion and the burning and cutting during the cultural revolution, most of them are vague and incomprehensible. They are mostly for tracing the history of nunnery and chanting the dead wood. This stele is one of the three wonders of Woodcarving in our province, and it is also unique in China. Climbing from the back of the temple, there is a ravine spring at the top, named Yingchao spring. It has a peculiar source, about three feet wide, with only a few inches of water mouth, which can rise and fall with the tide. When the tide rises, the trickle flows out from the rocks on the four sides. When the tide falls, the spring dries up and the water does not flow.
Related allusions
The founder of Xuefeng temple is Yicun (822-902), an eminent monk. He was born in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, with a common surname of Zeng. After entering Fujian, he was eighty-seven years old.
He is proficient in Buddhism and highly respected. Fayan and Yunmen, two of the five Zen sects (juiyang, Linji, caodong, fayan and Yunmen), are under the sect. In the Five Dynasties, Wang Shenzhi, the king of Fujian, once asked Yi Cun, "what's the difference between living in Xianggu peak as a teacher? "Yicun replied," the summer moon on the top of the mountain is still covered with snow. "Wang said," it's a mountain that can be called Xuefeng. "It was renamed Xuefeng. The peak is 800 meters above sea level, enjoying the reputation of "Minyue Shenxiu" and "Qiongyao first peak". The ancients have a poem praising: Taihua congeals with pure Hibiscus / the clouds are light and dense across the river / summer falls, and you feel the heat slightly / the time is shifting, and autumn is like winter / silver HOEs are scattered on thousand ridges / Jade buildings are covered with hundreds of thousands of pines / several rain flower stands are on the view / the light shakes the frost clock of the pavilion.
Prosperous scene
As one of the five major Buddhist temples in Fuzhou (Gushan Yongquan temple, Ximen Xichan temple, Xuefeng Chongsheng temple, Beifeng Shipai Linyang temple and Xiangfeng Chongfu Temple), Xuefeng temple was built in 875, the second year of Qianfu period, and was originally named Yingtian Xuefeng Buddhist temple. The temple was built more than 30 years earlier than Yongquan temple in Gushan. Yan Nai, the founder of Yongquan temple, was a senior disciple of Yicun. In the first year of qianning (894), it was moved to Chen Yang (today's site), and in the third year of the Song Dynasty (978), it was renamed today. In its heyday, there were more than 1000 halls and houses with more than 1500 monks.
