Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade

Tsim Sha Tsui promenade is located in the East China Sea of Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is a seaside park with a panoramic view of Victoria Harbour. The park is 1.6 km long, reaching Star Ferry Pier in Tsim Sha Tsui in the West and Kowloon entrance of Hung Hom Cross Harbour Tunnel in the East. The "Avenue of stars" on the promenade of Tsim Sha Tsui is modeled on the design style of Hollywood avenue of stars in the United States, with the theme of the development history of Hong Kong films. Many famous film stars and producers have left their marks here. The plaque of 73 movie celebrities, the fingerprints of more than 30 celebrities and the statue of martial arts superstar Bruce Lee form a beautiful landscape.

Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade (English: Tsim Sha Tsui promenade, commonly known as Tsim Sha Tsui promenade) is a seaside park in Hong Kong. It is located on the East China Sea of Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, with a view of the Victoria Harbour.

The garden is 1.6 km long, reaching Star Ferry Pier in Tsim Sha Tsui in the West and the Kowloon entrance of the Cross Harbour Tunnel in Hung Hom in the East. The park is currently managed by the Hong Kong leisure and Cultural Services Department.

history

The location of the west of Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront garden was formerly a section of the KCR track connecting Ho Man Tin and Tsim Sha Tsui station. After the Kowloon Canton Railway was converted to Hung Hom Station (then known as Kowloon) as the terminal, the track was demolished and the original site was used for cultural and commercial purposes. The waterfront promenade is one of the facilities. The eastern part of the park to the east of the new world center, formerly part of Hung Hom Bay, became land with the Tsim Sha Tsui East reclamation project in the late 1960s.

Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront garden is open in two phases. The first phase is the eastern part of the park along Salisbury Road. It was opened in 1982. In 1989, the western region was opened to the public simultaneously with the Hong Kong Cultural Center.

Beautification project

The landscaping project of Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront garden, with a total cost of HK $190 million, started in August 2004 and took nearly two years to complete in May 2006. The whole project can be divided into six parts: Cultural Center, Hong Kong Avenue of stars, restaurant, transport connecting station, waterfront and Urban Council Centennial garden.

In order to match the hue of the buildings in Tsim Sha Tsui and create a unified effect, the theme color of the whole corridor is gray white. The cultural center and waterfront platform are also re paved with floor tiles and natural granite, and the bell tower of the wharf has changed from the original Roman square into a simpler design. The screw type staircase viewing platform opposite the cultural center was changed to square staircase to facilitate the public and tourists to enjoy the view of the Victoria Harbour. The whole Roman arch was removed to widen the view of the promenade.

The lamp posts on the opposite side of the corridor are also moved inward. Energy saving light tubes and horns are added to facilitate visitors to enjoy and take photos of the harbour at night. Along the road and planted a lot of plants to create pastoral and greening effect. Located in the new world center, a government owned seawater pumping station has also been converted into a floor glass restaurant (partly operated by Starbucks), with a total indoor area of 2000 square feet and an estimated capacity of 200 people. In order to make visitors feel the artistic atmosphere of Hong Kong, 12 sculptures created by Hong Kong artists are arranged on the promenade.
