Xianshui River
Xianshui River is a tributary on the left bank of Yalong River, which was called Xianshui River and Zhoujiang River in ancient times. It originates from the south foot of Bayankala mountain in dari County, Qinghai Province, and its north source is called Niqu river. It flows into Seda County, Sichuan Province, and is called Xianshui River after Luhuo and Nanyuan Daqu converge. In the south, it flows through the two estuaries 27 km north of Daofu county to Yajiang County and joins the Yalong River. The river is 541 km long, with a drop of 1340 m, a drainage area of 19338 square km, an estuary discharge of 202 m3 / s, and a theoretical reserve of 1.11 million kw of dry water energy.
Overview of Xianshui River
Xianshui River flows through the plateau above Daofu, where the river valley above Luhuo is wide and the terraces are developed; the section from Luhuo to Daofu is tortuous, with many branches and central beaches, the riverbed is wide and gentle, and the terraces are developed; below Daofu, the river is deep, the bank slope is steep, the rock avalanche is violent, and the debris flow is developed. Its main tributaries are Daqu River, dege River, LARIMA Valley and jiasikong Valley, forming an asymmetric pinnate water system. There are Juba and Daofu hydrologic stations 1 km upstream of niquluhuo and 10 km upstream of Xianshui River respectively

Protection and utilization planning
Xianshui River is the largest tributary on the left bank of Yalong River. It originates from the south foot of Bayankala mountain in Qinghai Province and flows into Yalong River in gala Township, Yajiang County, Sichuan Province. The total length of the main stream is 556.7km, the natural fall is 2120m, the drainage area is 19338km, the average annual discharge is 202m / s, and the theoretical reserve is 1224.3mw. The topography of Xianshui River Basin inclines from northwest to Southeast, and the middle and upper reaches are hilly plateau terrain; the left bank of the middle and lower reaches are mainly Alpine original terrain. According to the characteristics of Xianshui River, the main development task of Xianshui River is determined as hydropower generation, water supply, irrigation, flood control and ecological protection.
According to the river morphology and resource distribution, considering the backwater influence of Lianghekou reservoir in the lower reaches of the mainstream of Yalong River, it is recommended to adopt the development scheme of "one reservoir with 12 levels", with a total installed capacity of 248.2mw, which is from top to bottom as follows: Xiawa, kaniang, guanmenliang, Juba, qiwan, xiuluohai, Wada, luhuoxianshui River, benglong, Dalan village, Mengtuo and yacun.
Cities and towns in the basin are all distributed in the valley area, with streams and gullies as the water source. The water demand can be met by expanding the water intake project of qiurigou in Daofu county and the water supply project of Luhuo county. The drinking water safety in rural areas can be solved by building a number of drinking water projects for human and livestock. According to the water diversion planning report of the west route of South to North Water Diversion, it is planned to transfer 1.45 billion m of water from Xianshui River Basin, including 700 million m from daqu'an reservoir and 750 million m from niqu'renda reservoir.
The cultivated land in the basin is mainly distributed on both sides of the river valley, focusing on the development of small water diversion projects. Forage is mainly located in the source area of tributaries and main streams, and the irrigation problem is solved by the combination of storage, diversion and lifting with groundwater utilization. It is planned to increase the effective irrigation area of cultivated land by 37000 mu in 2030, the effective irrigation area of cultivated land will reach 111000 mu, the effective irrigation rate of cultivated land will reach 64%, and the multiple cropping index of cultivated land will be increased to about 120%; the new irrigation area of grassland will reach 122000 mu, the irrigation area of grassland will reach 144000 mu, and the effective irrigation rate of grassland will reach about 7%.
The flood control of Xianshui River is mainly based on the construction of levees, taking into account the control of soil erosion, the control of mountain disasters and the construction of revetment works. It is planned to build 50.19km new dykes, 13km revetment works, 30-year return period for Luhuo and Daofu County dykes, and 20-year return period for other dykes.
