Grand ancestral hall
Ancestral hall is a place where Chinese people worship their ancestors. China's feudal society is based on the system of loyalty and filial piety. As a symbol of the family, ancestral temple naturally occupies a very high position in people's mind. Ancestral ceremony represents an excellent cultural form of ancestor belief, which has great influence and historical value. In the early Ming Dynasty, the first ancestral hall was built in Liukeng. By the time of Wanli, there were 26 sub ancestral halls in the village. This large family with profound traditional cultural heritage has enhanced the cohesion of the clan with the elements of Confucian Neo Confucianism, and injected vitality into the clan with the development of the theory of mind. For hundreds of years, ancestor worship has become a part of the clan's behavior and daily life. Now there are more than 50 old temples scattered in the village. There are shrines in every hall. On the morning of the first and the fifteenth day of each month, villagers set off a small firecracker and beat a small copper bell to give a confession to the shrine and pray devoutly. At that time, the sound of gunfire in the village became a scenic spot.
brief introduction
Liukeng village is an epitome of Chinese feudal patriarchal society. For more than a thousand years, Dong's elite relied on the strict feudal clan system to unite the clan, maintain order and develop steadily. The remains of religious activities can be seen everywhere in the village, especially the numerous editions of genealogy and ancestral halls all over the village, which are rare cultural landscapes. There are still three genealogies of Wanli in Ming Dynasty and more than 20 editions of Gefang genealogy in Qing Dynasty. There are five granite pillars with a height of 8 meters and a diameter of 0.7 meters, which stand out from the sky and are known as the "Yuanmingyuan" of Liukeng.
background
The ancestral temple is sacred in people's hearts. It is a strict legal system in combination with the genealogy of each room. In ancient times, Liukeng was well-developed in wood industry, and the protection of trees and forests in the village was enhanced. We can clearly see how the legal system worked in the compilation of Yinming house genealogy in the 19th year of Daoguang.
Historical data
It is said in the forbidden Treaty of zhangmukeng written by Xiuyin Ming Fang Pu that "if anyone steals a branch or a branch of a tree outside the firewood (i.e. the Bush used as firewood), he will be arrested in the ancestral temple and punished separately. If he dares to do harm again and again, or despises the law, or refuses to do it, he will be punished severely, and will be removed immediately. He will not be allowed to take wood for life. If an elder over 50 commits a crime depending on his old age, he will not be allowed to enter the temple for life, except for the punishment. All forces attack together, but not leniently. "
example
During the period of the Republic of China, people have seen cases of beating people in ancestral halls on the spot. Another case is that after a public discussion, the head of the clan finally decided to drown in Jue Wu Tang. If it's a fine, the first three times, the second 33 yuan, more than once. Clan organizations used various kinds of legal and economic sanctions in reality, so that awards and punishments can be implemented, which has a strong restricting force. In addition, the main part of Liukeng mountain is on both sides of the river more than 30 Li from Liukeng village to Zhaodai Yinzhong. At that time, there were many rafts in Wujiang River, and the workers went down along the river. They knew the changes of the mountains and forests on both sides of the river like the palm of their hands. Once illegal logging or mountain fire was found, they could call the police and deal with it immediately.
Liukeng ancestral hall is the most exquisite building in Liukeng village, especially the three archways in its front yard, which not only plays an important role in the landscape, but also has a strong sense of identity in the minds of the villagers. In 2004, Jiangxi renovated this ancestral hall. The school of architecture of Tsinghua University followed the general protection and renovation principle of "comprehensive protection, respect for history, restore style and highlight key points", and made a comprehensive planning and design for the overall layout, road system, greening system, cultural landscape, memorial archway and screen wall restoration of this area, showing the history of Liukeng village to the best of its ability original appearance. It is said that after the implementation of the plan, Liukeng may further become an important base for the future study of Jiangxi and even Chinese history and folk customs.
