Baoben Temple

Baoben temple, also known as "baoben pagoda yard", is located in yingwuzhou, Southeast of Chengguan Town, Pinghu City, Zhejiang Province. It is named after the "baoben pagoda" on the island. It covers an area of 49 mu, surrounded by water on all sides, with clear water in the lake, lush trees on the island and picturesque scenery. It is like a fairyland in Penglai.

history

According to Pinghu county temple, Lu Gong, a native of the Ming Dynasty in 1563, chose Fangzhou, a parrot, and Jingyu, a cassock to decorate the beautiful scenery of the lakes and mountains. The name of the pagoda is "baoben", which means that the one who covers heaven and earth is the foundation of all things; the one who covers a large number of people is the foundation of all people; the one who is the parent is the foundation of body; the one who is the teacher is the foundation of expounding and teaching; the one who controls all the universe is the foundation of all things! In 1659, it was reported that the pagoda collapsed because of its unstable foundation. It was rebuilt in 1715. The newly built tower has been changed from seven stories to five stories, and its height is still 19 Zhang. Around the eaves of China, the upper and lower corners are hung with bronze bells, and the wind blows the bells for miles. The existing ancient pagoda is 49.14 meters high. It has five floors, 8.8 meters in diameter at the bottom. The outer wall of each room is decorated with water chestnut teeth. There are spiral stone steps in the tower, which can be picked up.

Baoben temple is a Buddhist resort. Since Jiajing of Ming Dynasty, it has been a famous monk and abbot, and the incense has flourished. In 1570, Wang Ji, a disciple of Wang Yangming, once gave a lecture here, integrating Yangming's "conscience" theory into Zen Buddhism. Confucian students in the county gathered in the pagoda to listen to lectures, which was very prosperous for a time. Since then, scholars and scholars have been chanting it, and they often forget to return. In 1935, master Hongyi, a well-known monk from Pinghu, gave a speech on Amitabha Sutra compiled by him in Wanshou temple in Xiamen. He mentioned the relics of the temple in Pinghu newspaper with his own news facts.

In November 1937, Japanese invaders landed and invaded Baisha Bay, Pinghu, and the baoben temple was destroyed. The ancient pagoda, corridor and qulan were not spared, and the tourists disappeared.

After the reform and opening up, Pinghu municipal government approved the restoration of baoben temple. In January 1993, "Tianwang hall" was completed and opened to the outside world. In August 1996, yingwuzhou was re planned. On the basis of the restoration of the main project of baoben temple, it integrated tourism, commerce and trade, and expanded its profound national culture. The newly planned parrot island covers an area of 34146 square meters (51.22 mu) and has a water surface area of 3358 square meters (5.04 mu). According to the original historical appearance, yingwuzhou is divided into two regions: North and south. The North District covers an area of about 24.17 mu, with the temple and pagoda as the main body, and combined with some commercial points. The east of the pagoda is the main axis of the temple, and from south to north are Zhaobi, Shanmen, Tianwang hall, platform, Daxiong hall, and Sutra library. The East and west sides of the axis are the auxiliary halls, and the corridor closed on all sides connects the East and west auxiliary halls and Sutra library to form a stele corridor. The west of the tower is the axis of the tower courtyard. From south to north, it is the entrance hall of the tower courtyard, the side hall, the newspaper tower, the fangtang pool and the monk's house. The south area covers an area of 27.05 mu, which is composed of Jingqi garden and Chunhui Hall. Jingqi garden is a classical garden with closed earth mountains and forests, and is combined with a free pond. Chunhui Pavilion is adjacent to the pool in the north and the rockery courtyard in the south. The whole complex is basically hidden.

Current prison

At present, master Qiu kuanxiu is a 28 year old monk in baoben temple. He became a monk in 1990. In 1991, he sought to teach three great precepts in Wutai Mountain. Three years later, he left the temple to study. From 1996 to 1999, he worked in baoben temple.
