Stone pagoda of Jin Dynasty in shaguotun
Taihe Nuzhen Pagoda in shaguotun, located in the northeast of shaguotun village, Nanpiao District, Huludao City, is a hillock in the middle of a mountain pass. The shape of the tower is hexagonal five, about 5 meters high. It is made of local materials and carved with 18 stones. It is placed on a sedimentary rock above the hill.
brief introduction
The tower base is Xumi type, which is made of three pieces of stone; each side of the waist is carved with a door, and the inside is carved with a beast. Each beast has a bell in front of its chest, and has a different look. The tower on the top of the beast is a round rosette, on which there are six pointed arch niches, on which the Buddha sits on the lotus. The niche is carved with patterns, decorated with a treasure cover, and carved with round leaning columns at each corner. The eaves of the pagoda are carved with five stones, and the six corners are tilted and converged layer by layer. A round hole for hanging wind chimes is chiseled at the front end of the ridge at the upper corner of the eaves of the fifth tower. On the west side of the lower part of the tower, there is a large flat stone of 167 square meters. In the middle of the stone, there are six Chinese characters "July of the sixth year of Taihe". This is the only evidence of the construction of the tower. After more than 800 years of wind and rain erosion, the tower has been weathered seriously, with obvious cracks in many places, and rough repair marks on the tower base and body.
It is worth pointing out that the fence and two inscriptions built around the tower are extremely inharmonious with the site environment, which is very bad for the view. The stone pagoda is like a native who was born and grew up here, and is integrated with the stone hill.
In 1963, the pagoda was listed as a provincial cultural relic. It is one of the stone pagodas with dense eaves in Jin Dynasty which are rarely found in China. It may also be one of the suppression pagodas in the early period. It is the Fengshui pagoda guarding Fengshui. It has certain historical value for the study of Buddhism and sculpture art in Jin Dynasty.
legend
A local elder in his 90s tells us the legend of the stone pagoda of the Jin Dynasty
There is a family with the surname of Zhou in the west of Liaoning Province. Mr. Zhou is more than 70 years old. His old companion has passed away for many years. There is a son and a daughter under his knee. His daughter is married out of town, and his son has married. Mr. Zhou was very interested in the book of changes when he was a child. He was instructed by a famous teacher and had a deep knowledge of geomantic omen. He was especially good at Yin Yang house. He was a famous geomantic omen master within a hundred miles.
One day during dinner, my son said to the old man, "Dad, you've shown so many things to others. Why don't you show them to our own family so that we can honor our ancestors." Mr. Zhou pondered for a moment and said earnestly, "son, it's not that my father doesn't want to, it's that you have no fortune." The son asked, "why?" The old father looked at his son with a kind and deep eye and said, "can you do as I say?" The son insisted that he would do as his father asked. The old man hesitated to give his will to his son. 1、 I can't wear clothes when I go to the funeral after my death. If I wear them, I can't buckle them, I can't wear trousers and belts, and I can't wear leggings. 2、 After my death, if the black dog in my family goes to the bedroom, I will never fight down. 3、 Walking along the river bank during the funeral, the coffin will be buried wherever it falls. The old man told his son again and again: you must do as I said (continued from 2nd Edition)
A few days later, Mr. Zhou passed away. Daughters, relatives and friends all came to see the old man off. When the girl saw that her father had no clothes on, she cried and complained, crying miserably. The elder brother and sister-in-law couldn't listen to this, so they had to dress the old man. At the request of their younger sister, they fastened the button, belt and leggings. After the funeral, he was ready to park for seven days for the funeral. At this time, the big black dog in the family went to the room and yelled at the Northeast without eating or drinking, which made the neighbors talk about it. They all said that the black dog went to the room and the family was ruined. The whole family was disturbed. At the instigation of relatives and friends, the old man's son beat down the big black dog with an old foreign gun.
After seven days, the funeral began. There is a ridge in the east of the house. The blue rock on the ridge is exposed, like a dragon lying prone on the ridge. At the west end of the ridge, there is a huge rock protruding high, like a raised dragon head. Below is Xisha River. When people came to the beach under the ridge, the rope was broken and the coffin fell to the ground. According to the owner's request, Mr. Zhou was buried here.
Seven days ago, in the palace of the state of Dajin, the imperial master of the celestial supervisor was observing the celestial phenomena. He suddenly found something unusual and immediately reported to the Emperor: a new star appeared in the southwest corner. This celestial phenomenon is extremely ominous. This new star indicates that there is a Dragon Cave in the southwest. The family who owns the Dragon Cave will have a bride who will disturb the imperial platform and bring great difficulties to the state of Dajin. The emperor immediately summoned the ministers to discuss and decide, and ordered the sky commander to further determine the position, and then the imperial division led the army to encircle and destroy the situation.
More than ten days later, the encirclement and suppression troops came to the foot of Jiulong Mountain. Under the command of the grand division, the soldiers waved spades and pickaxes on both sides of the Xisha River to find the Dragon Cave. After a few days, the soldiers were sleepy and had no chance to find the Dragon Cave. When the Grand Masters were at a loss, a soldier went to the river to take a nap. Suddenly, he heard a voice: "I'm so tired, I'm so tired. Let's have a rest." The soldier was startled and cried out, "here it is!" The grand master and the soldiers gathered around and dug out a big black fish with all hands. The buttons on the fish's clothes and waistband had been opened, and only the gaiters on its tail had not been untied before it was trapped. It turns out that master Zhou is the result of the change of black fish essence, which is why he has such a great virtue.
After seeing this, the grand master felt very scared and said, "Alas", saying that master Zhou's son really didn't have this life. If he did as the old man told him before he died and didn't wear clothes when he was buried, even if he wore clothes but didn't fasten the buckle, the belt, the leggings, or the leggings were not tight, the blackfish would have gone into the river long ago, and would not have been caught. If not, the bride will be in place, and the influence on the imperial court will be unimaginable. A sergeant asked, "what's the matter with black dogs?" The grand master told everyone: black dog is black dog star. Because it stands in front of the new star, we can't confirm the location of the new star, and we can't find this Dragon Cave. Unfortunately, they didn't do what the old man said and beat the black dog down. It wasn't until then that everyone realized.
The grand master surveyed the local terrain and confirmed that the ridge to the east of Mr. Zhou's house is a dragon vein, and a huge rock protruding from the west end of the ridge is the rising dragon head. The grand master invited the emperor to build a stone pagoda on the dragon head to suppress the dragon and prevent future trouble. This is one of the legendary versions of the stone pagoda in shaguotun.
According to the villagers, shaguotun was originally known as sanhutun. Mr. Feng Shui figured out that there would be three emperors here. In order to avoid competing for supremacy, he built this tower.
