Shitu Bridge
Located in Sixi Town, Zhejiang Province, there are two Hongqiao style wooden arch bridges, known as "sister bridge", also known as "Shitu bridge". "Dongxi bridge" was built in the Longqing period of Ming Dynasty. From a distance, red walls and green tiles are more prominent than the surrounding houses. On both sides of the bridge, from the railings below, all scales are stacked and nailed with thin boards to block the rain. Another bridge not far from it is called Beijian bridge, which was built in the reign of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty. The bridge is covered with gallery houses, and the ridge in the middle is treated as double eaves to make the appearance more beautiful.
Taishun corridor bridge
brief introduction
Taishun is a mountainous county in the south of Zhejiang Province, bordering Wencheng in the northeast, Jingning in the northwest and Fujian Province in the south, with a total area of 1700 square kilometers. It is known as "nine mountains, half water, half farmland". There are 179 peaks with an average altitude of more than 490 meters. In history, in order to avoid disaster and chaos, many celebrities and sages moved to Taishun, a "paradise" with ups and downs and few people. They created a local civilization with mountainous pastoral characteristics and left a very precious historical and cultural heritage. Taishun corridor bridge is one of the most outstanding representatives. As the name suggests, "gallery bridge" is a bridge with eaves. In the history of Taishun, the villages are scattered and the traffic is remote. It's hard to see people when people go out for more than ten miles. According to the "traffic planning" of the ancestors of Taishun, a rain and wind Pavilion should be built on the side of the main road (Stone Road) with a certain distance. The construction of eaves on the bridge can not only protect the timber bridge from the invasion of sunshine and rain, but also play the role of wind and rain Pavilion. Some bridges have rooms for people to live in.
history
However, the term "Langqiao" has only been adopted in Taishun in recent years. For hundreds of years, Taishun people have always called the wooden arch bridge "centipede bridge". In fact, the wooden arch bridge has no "centipede foot". Liu Jie, a lecturer at Shanghai Jiaotong University, believes that "centipede bridge" is similar to centipede in structure. In fact, the common people's name of "centipede bridge" has been inherited from generation to generation, and the mechanical principle of wooden arch bridge is unlikely to be explored in depth. In remote mountainous counties with closed traffic, few people know the extremely important historical and cultural value of "centipede bridge" in the history of Chinese Bridge Development. It was not until the end of 1970s that Taishun was discovered by people of insight. On November 12, 1996, China Photo daily published Xiao Yunji's graphic report of "the remains of the South Zhejiang corridor bridge" in one third of the front page, and adopted the name of "corridor bridge" for the first time. Since then, the central, provincial and municipal news units and scholars at home and abroad have come to Taishun to interview, investigate and study. Taishun corridor bridge, a national treasure, has attracted extensive attention at home and abroad.
There are many folk bridges in Taishun, and there are many types of structures. According to the records of traffic records of Taishun County, by the end of 1987, there were 958 existing bridges with a total length of 16829 meters, of which 476 were built before liberation and 7923 were extended. There are more than 30 bridges in Ming and Qing Dynasties, including wooden arch bridge, Muping bridge and stone arch bridge. Among them, there are 6 wooden arch bridges which occupy an important position in the history of bridge in the world. They are Sixi sister bridge, sankui xuezhai bridge, Xianju bridge, Xiaocun Wenxing bridge and three bridges. Wooden arch bridge with short wood, through the vertical and horizontal intersection, like a rainbow flying across the wide water, its ingenious structure, amazing!
Sixi Beijian Bridge
Beijian bridge is commonly known as Xiaqiao. In Xiaqiao village of Sixi, the bridge is more than 1km away from Shangqiao and crosses Beixi, so it is called "Beijian bridge". The village is named after the bridge, and its structure and shape are similar to Shangqiao. It is 51.87 meters long, 5.37 meters wide, 11.22 meters high, with a single span of 29 meters. It is also a wooden arch gallery bridge with 20 bridge houses. It is said that Sixi SHANGXIA bridge was built by the disciples of the same family, so it is called Sixi Shitu bridge, also known as Sixi sister bridge. It was built in 1671 and rebuilt in 1803. The upper and lower bridges, with exquisite structure and simple shape, are typical wooden arch bridges in the history of bridge construction in China. In 1986 and 1987, the Provincial Bureau of cultural relics appropriated funds for renovation. When the bridge was rebuilt in 1987, Professor Yang Daoming of Tianjin University came to Sixi to inspect the bridge and Xidong bridge. He thought that the two bridges were national treasures and inscribed two plaques: "ancient architectural relics" and "national essence". In 1989, the two bridges were listed as the third batch of cultural relics protection units in Zhejiang Province. Beijian bridge and its surrounding environment are very beautiful. Two streams meet at the bridge side. The stream is clear to the bottom, and there is a small stone bridge built with stone beams on the stream, which is connected with an anchorage. Whenever the stream rises, the whole small stone bridge will be submerged. Along the Bank of the stream, a path leads people to the bridge and the village. Two big camphor trees stand at the head of the bridge and also at the head of the village. The thicker one is more than two meters in diameter. According to the records of Taishun County annals, these two trees are thousands of years old. The two big trees have played a role in strengthening the soil and water. Their roots firmly grasp the earth and rock around the bridge foundation to ensure that they have withstood the erosion of hundreds of years of wind and rain. From a distance, along the path to the North Stream bridge, the dense crowns of two big trees, like the hair of an old man, gently cover the ancient bridge and the surrounding simple dwellings. A small stone street at the end of the bridge is the center of the whole village. On one side is the corridor bridge, on the other side is the residence. Because Beijian bridge was built earlier than Xidong bridge, Beijian bridge is the only local wooden bridge across Dongxi, so prosperous villages and towns gradually formed on both sides of the bridgehead. Along the bridgehead, a small shop street was formed, with shops on the ground floor and owners living on the second floor. The natural combination of ancient trees, bridges and buildings is the biggest feature of Beijian bridge. Beijian bridge is an outstanding model in terms of the choice of building materials or bridge structure, the combination of bridge and architecture, and the combination of human landscape and natural landscape, which fully embodies the concept of space and environment of traditional Chinese architecture.
Sixi East Bridge
Shitu Bridge
Xidong bridge is the best wooden arch bridge in Taishun. Xidong bridge is Shangqiao, which is located in Xidong village, Sixi town. It is commonly known as Xidong bridge. In fact, it should be called Dongxi bridge because it crosses Dongxi river. It is 41.7 meters long, 4.86 meters wide, 10.35 meters high (from the water surface to the top of the span, the same below), with a single span of 25.7 meters. It is a palace style, with cornices and an attic with main eaves in the center. It is very magnificent and beautiful. The bridge is made up of two layers of arch bones, with nine arch bones, which run through the other layer of eight arch bones side by side, forming a stable beam frame. A triangular wooden frame is set in the arch to strengthen the effect of transverse force. In order to protect the arch bone and beam column from wind and rain erosion, red painted wood boards are used on both sides for wind protection. The arch toes at both ends are respectively supported on the abutment, which is built on the cliffs on both sides with granite. There are stone steps at both ends of the passage. On the beam frame, there are 15 long corridor bridge floors, among which there are pavilions rising high, and the wing angles at both ends are flying. It has the potential of swallowing clouds and puffing mist. After crossing the bridge, the stream bends and flows through the south side of the bridge. The stream is clear enough to see the pebbles on the riverbed. On the other side of the bridge is a distant mountain, and nearby are two higher peaks, Lion Peak on one side and general peak on the other. It is said that the bridge and its surrounding environment are in the geomantic treasure land of "generals amusing lions". Set off by the distant mountains, Xidong bridge is more beautiful and light. The bridge was first built in 1570 (the fourth year of the reign of emperor Longqing) and rebuilt in 1745 (the tenth year of Emperor Qianlong). It is regarded as one of the typical bridges in China. Because Xidong bridge was built a few years later than Beijian bridge, the two bridges are in the upper and lower reaches of the stream, and later generations call them "Shangqiao" and "Xiaqiao" respectively.
