Panyu Academy
Panyu academy is located at No.42, Zhongshan 4th Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou city. It is now the former site of Mao Zedong's workshop on peasant movement. Before the Qing Dynasty, it was a Confucian temple in Panyu County for learning and offering sacrifices to Confucius (located in Chengxuan street, east of today's Beijing Road and west of martyrs' cemetery, under the jurisdiction of Panyu county). In 1370, it was founded by Mao Zhong, the county magistrate, and Li Xin. The current pattern was formed in 1747. Daoguang 15 years reconstruction. The former academy has three broad roads and five deep ones. At present, most of the buildings on the left and right roads have been destroyed except Minglun hall and Guangji hall. There are Lingxing gate, panchi arch bridge, Dacheng gate, Dacheng hall, Chongsheng hall and east-west corridor in the middle road. It covers an area of 5425 square meters. Dacheng hall, the main building, has a large scale, with a surface width of 24.72 meters, a depth of 14.22 meters and a height of 12.62 meters. Since Comrade Mao Zedong held a workshop on the peasant movement here in 1926, it was opened as a memorial hall of the former site of the Institute of agriculture in 1953 and listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit.

Panyu academy, together with Deqing academy and Jieyang academy, is one of the three university palaces in Guangdong.
Historical records
According to the records of Panyu county annals in the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, the first year of Chunyou in the Song Dynasty (1241) was founded in 5 Li southeast of the county, which was later destroyed. In the third year of Hongwu (1370), Mao Zhong, magistrate of the Ming Dynasty, and Li Xin, admonish of the Ming Dynasty, built it in the east city, which was later burned down by fire; in the 13th year of Hongwu (1380), it was rebuilt at this site, which was the highest school in the area at that time, and was burned down again after completion. Before the Qing Dynasty, it was a Confucian temple in Panyu County for learning and offering sacrifices to Confucius. Sacrificial ceremonies were held in February and August of the lunar calendar. The current pattern was formed in 1747 and rebuilt in 1835. The former academy has three broad entrances and five deep entrances, with a large scale: the gate is a granite carved lattice gate, with Dacheng hall, Chongsheng hall and Zunjing Pavilion on the front; on the left side, there are Pu, Tudi temple, Keyang, Confucianism department, Minglun hall, Guangji hall, Bagui scholars, yuan, Lang, Minghuan temple; on the right side, there are Pu, Jiexiao temple, Xunzhou, Zhongyi Xiaodi temple, shepu, Xiangxian temple, Lang, etc. Behind the halberd gate, there is a pool, a stone bridge built in China, a dachengmen, a dressing house and a West and East veranda. All kinds of halls form a complex of red walls and yellow glazed tiles. At present, most of the buildings on the left and right roads have been destroyed except Minglun hall and Guangji hall; on the Middle Road, there are Lingxing gate, panchi arch bridge, Dacheng gate, Dacheng hall, Chongsheng hall, and East and West Corridor veranda; on the east wall of Dongzhai, there are six inscriptions, such as the inscription on the new born seal of Panyu Prefecture. Covering an area of 5425 square meters, the main building Dacheng hall has a large scale, with five rooms, 24.72 meters in width, 14.22 meters in depth and 12.62 meters in height. Bagui middle school, which was changed into Panyu middle school in 1906, rented most of it to Mao Zedong in 1926. In 1953, it was set up as the memorial hall of the former site of Guangzhou peasant movement training institute. On March 4, 1961, the former site of Guangzhou peasant movement training institute was announced as a national key cultural relics protection unit. When it was repaired in 1965, the decayed part of the gold pillar of Dacheng hall was hollowed out and reinforced with reinforced concrete.
