Flower tower
Flower tower is a high tower in Liurong temple, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. The tower was built in 537 A.D. and destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt in the fourth year of Shaosheng (1097 A.D.) in the Northern Song Dynasty. After that, it was repaired many times.
history
In 1980, when the pagoda was fully repaired, a brick inscription bearing the year of the Northern Song Dynasty was found between the walls of the pagoda. Brick and wood structure, octagonal plane, appearance of nine floors, interior with a total of 17 floors, 57.6 meters high, pavilion style. The tower body is a shaft structure, the diameter of the first layer is 12 meters, and there are secondary steps. The stairs inside the tower are designed to pass through the wall of the tower and round the flat seat. The outer layers of the tower are surrounded by corridors. The eaves of each layer are covered with green glazed tiles, and the eaves are slightly tilted. The shape of the eaves is like a bird spreading its wings. In the sun, the colored glaze is bright, the red column is blue, and the red column is pink. The whole body of the tower is as bright as nine carved flowers. The top of the tower is a 9.14-meter-high thousand Buddha copper column cast in the 18th year of the Yuan Dynasty (A.D. 1358). The column body is densely covered with 1023 small relief Buddhas, as well as jiuxiao treasure plate, nine story jiuxiao treasure wheel, one story double dragon treasure plate and eight iron chains. The whole string of components weighs 5 tons. This tower is magnificent and magnificent, with a sharp edge like a style in the sky. The flower tower stands in the center of Guangzhou City, adding a lot of color to Guangzhou City and giving a bird's-eye view of the whole city. The giant bronze statues of Buddha and the audio-visual images of Tongguan in Liurong temple are all ancient articles with artistic value.
Structure in the tower
Liurong flower pagoda is located in Liurong temple, formerly known as the relic pagoda of baozhengwei temple. The tower was built at the same time as Liurong temple, but the original tower was destroyed by fire in the 10th century. When it was rebuilt in 1931, it was reinforced with reinforced concrete. At present, the tower is 57 meters high, with nine octagons and seventeen floors inside. You can get a bird's-eye view of the whole city by climbing up the steps to the top of the tower. The shape of the tower is gorgeous and spectacular, with hanging bells at the eaves and corners. The whole tower looks like a style made of flowers, and the top of the tower looks like the stamen heart growing on the tallest flower. So people usually call it "flower tower".
The liuronghua pagoda retains the architectural form and style of the Song Dynasty. On the top of the pagoda is a thousand Buddha bronze pillar cast in the 18th year of yuanzhizheng (1358), with a total weight of 5000 kg of jiuxiao plate, Baozhu and the hanging Tielian. There is also a bronze statue of the sixth patriarch of monks in Tang Dynasty, which is a precious cultural relic. Liu Zu, surnamed Lu and surnamed Huineng, was born in Xinxing County, Guangdong Province. He is the sixth generation patriarch of Dharma Zen Buddhism.
