Pigeon's nest

Since 2005, Macao has been listed as one of the eight ancient squares in the world cultural heritage list along with a part of Macao's historical city. The name comes from Marquis, a wealthy Portuguese businessman who lived here in the 18th century. The pigeon raised by Marquis lives in the eaves and looks like a pigeon nest from a distance, so it gets its name. The area in front of the white dove nest is the earliest Portuguese residential area in Macao. Behind the scenes
In the middle of the 18th century, it was originally the residence of a wealthy Portuguese businessman. This man likes to raise hundreds of pigeons. He soars in the sky and has a spectacular view. He lives in the eaves and looks like a nest from a distance, so he got the name. Later, he turned it into a park and continued to use the name.
Metz Park
The white dove Nest Park, also known as jamez Park, is named after Portugal's greatest poet. In the park, there is a cave of Jameson, where a bronze statue of him is placed.

White dove Nest Park covers a vast area and is one of the gardens with a long history in Macao. It is located on a small hill near inner harbor. It was called Phoenix Mountain in Qing Dynasty. At that time, there were many phoenix trees planted on the mountain. Qiu Fengjia, Li Yaling and Wang Zhaoyong of Qing Dynasty all wrote poems about this beautiful park. It is close to St. Antony's church and is located in front of white dove nest. The garden is surrounded by hills, ancient trees, flowers and plants, and birds are singing. Even in the middle of summer, it is still a cool and green world.
China Portugal friendship
Walking into the garden, you can see four ancient banyan trees standing in the garden with unique style; not far away, there is an art sculpture named "embrace" standing in the middle of the fountain. The sculpture was designed by female sculptor Wei Qilian to commemorate the friendship between China and Portugal.
There are many paths in the garden. Around "hugging" and along the road leading to Jameson cave, there are many stone paintings with the theme of Portuguese soul epic, which are arranged by Jorge Estrela according to the drawing of master Lima de Freitas.
Walking up the winding jungle path, you will arrive at Jameson cave, a bronze statue of a famous Portuguese poet. This poet, who was born more than 400 years ago, is said to have been exiled to Australia and lived in seclusion in this cave because he violated the court officials and was not allowed to live in the country. He created the famous Portuguese epic "Portuguese soul". In 1840, he ordered people to place a bronze colored plaster bust, a pier and a stone tablet engraved with Rienzi's poems in a cave made of three large stones. In 1866, this plaster statue was created by M. M。 The bronze statue is still in the cave. On the front of the stone mound are the verses of the first, second and third stanzas of the first chapter of the Portuguese soul, and on the back are the Chinese versions.
Up the winding jungle path, past Jameson cave, you will arrive at the observation deck, the highest part of the garden, overlooking the inner harbour. In 1787, French geographer and explorer Mons. Jean Fran is de galaup, count de la Perouse) built the Observatory for space research while his fleet was moored.
Heading north of the garden, you pass a man-made waterfall. The water flows down the rock. Built in 1990, the waterfall is designed with two sets of natural overlapping rocks. Further down, there is a statue of the sage Kim Dae kin (1821-1846). He was the first Korean martyr to study in Australia from 1837 to 1842. In 1986, the Bishops' Association of Korea presented the statue to the Diocese of Macao.
