Chiang Kai Shek
Chiang Kai Shek's Xingyuan refers to No. 7, yuanensi Hutong, NanLuoGu lane, Beijing, formerly known as "Enyuan", which is a large courtyard with Chinese and Western characteristics.
From 1945 to 1949, as Chiang Kai Shek's main line in Peking, there were two major political and military activities here. In December 1945, in order to win the victory of the Anti Japanese War, Chiang Kai Shek came to Beijing as a "leader of the Anti Japanese War" to express his sympathy to the "northern compatriots" and seize the opportunity to win the victory. In September 1948, Chiang Kai Shek summoned Fu Zuoyi, Wei Lihuang and others to deploy to deal with the "Liaoshen campaign". After the founding of new China, the North China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee was set up in Chiang Kai Shek's Xingyuan. In the 1950s and 1960s, it was the site of the Yugoslavian Embassy in China and the Chinese people's Association for friendship with foreign countries.
Chiang Kai Shek's Xingyuan was originally the residence of Zaiyu, the second son of Prince Yi of Qing Dynasty. The courtyard is divided into three roads, the West and the East. The middle road is a western style building. In front of the building, there is a pool with fountains, rockeries and carved stones from Yuanmingyuan. There is also a Western-style round Pavilion in the southeast of the pool. The west road is a courtyard with two entrances. The East Road has an open courtyard, a flower hall and a beautiful veranda. Zaiyu is a famous dandy in Beijing. He is good at collecting money. It is said that this mansion was specially built by him for the famous prostitute "xiaohongbao". Later, he lost to others because of gambling. Soon, it was resold and became the office of a French enterprise.
At present, Chiang Kai Shek Xingyuan is a cultural relic protection unit in Beijing, which is directly under the central government office and is not open to the outside world.
