The second floor is the stone drum from the bottom; the third floor is the stone stele for building pagodas; the fourth floor is made of eight large stones, which is engraved with a couplet. The first couplet is "Guan Qingxiu's comments", the second couplet is "Tao is not too poor", and the horizontal inscription is: pagodas of Buddhas. On the fifth floor, there are eight glazed tile eaves, on which there are eight Buddha statues with different faces; on the sixth floor, there is a hollowed out stone drum, and on the top floor, there is a gourd shaped Pagoda with a height of more than 8 meters, which is a rare cultural relic.
According to the archaeological experts of the city museum, the tower is not only of historical value, but also of high artistic and cultural value.
Meaning of reconstruction
Geng, director of the Archaeology Department of Xuzhou Museum, said that the tower was built by an eminent monk in the thousand Buddha cave of Chuwang mountain. According to the shape of the tower, inscriptions and patterns, it can be confirmed that the tower was built in the Ming Dynasty, which is essentially different from the famous Kuishan tower in Xuzhou. Kuishan pagoda is a brick pagoda, which is not as big as the pagodas of Buddhas and no longer exists. The value of the pagodas is very high, which can be called a unique one in Pengcheng, far exceeding the value of Kuishan pagoda. After analyzing the characteristics of the cultural relics around Chuwang mountain, director Geng thinks that the pagoda was originally located in the Han Tombs protection area of Chuwang mountain. Chuwang mountain is magnificent. There are thousand Buddha cave and Chuwang tomb on the mountain, and the famous Tang Huai tree at the foot of the mountain. If the pagoda can be restored, it will undoubtedly become a bright spot in Xuzhou's tourism industry with far-reaching significance.
