Wuyu island is only three or four nautical miles away from the Dadan and Erdan islands in Jinmen. Because it is located on the channel from Xiamen to the open sea, it has been valued by military experts since ancient times. With an area of only 0.96 square kilometers, the island has beautiful scenery, including eight famous sceneries of Wuyu: exploring the sea at Hutou, watching the moon at Xiaan, listening to the tide at Guanyin, wave training at Houjiang, diao'ao in Xiandong, decisive victory at Yandun, artillery base in Yanping and distant view at changjiao.

Life on the island

The main economic source of the island is offshore fishing, supplemented by marine aquaculture and shipbuilding. By the end of 2012, there were more than 400 steel fishing vessels on the island, with an annual output value of several hundred million. However, in recent years, due to the increasing shortage of fishery resources in the surrounding waters, the fishing range of fishermen on the island has gradually expanded from the original dozens of nautical miles to the South China Sea and Diaoyu Islands, and the operation difficulty has increased a lot.

How to come to the island

There are five flights from Xiamen to Suyu every day: 1. The First Ferry Terminal - Suyu at 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; 2. Heping Ferry Terminal - Suyu at 8:00 a.m. and 2:004:30 p.m.; the return ferry from Suyu to Xiamen is: Suyu ferry terminal At 7:50 a.m., 8:00 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., when you come to Wuyu from Longhai City, you should first take a bus to doumei village, and then take a boat from doumei village to Wuyu. Today, the eight sceneries of Suyu island can only become the memories of the old people, and the clean beaches of the past no longer exist. In the past, there were some illegal sand dredgers mining sand on the sea surface of Suyu Island, which damaged the ecological environment of Suyu island.

A few years ago, Cai fule, a senior teacher of Suyu primary school, wrote a pamphlet named "beautiful Suyu island", which enthusiastically introduced the big eight sceneries and small eight sceneries of Suyu to tourists. But not long ago, when Mr. Cai enthusiastically took reporters to visit, he found that many scenes no longer exist. Wuyu has been an important coastal defense area since ancient times. There were many historical sites on the island, such as ancient city walls and ancient fort. According to historical records, Xu Songnian, governor of Fujian Navy, built a fort on the west side of the island during the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty. However, when Mr. Cai brought reporters here, the ancient fort had disappeared, leaving only a stone tablet.

Later, in his travel notes published on the Internet, he wrote: we have walked a long way to the only beach in the legend, but it is as dirty as a garbage dump. Some netizens said: "when the waves come, there is a layer of glittering Dongdong floating on the water. It seems that the water is not green, but a little black. The environmental sanitation of Suyu is not good. There is a lot of garbage on the shore... " According to the village cadres, Suyu is close to Xiamen. The "two committees" of the village originally planned to develop leisure fishery and island tourism. However, seeing the sharp deterioration of the environment in the past two years, we have no confidence.
