Hefei University (Hefei) Located in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, the former Hefei United University was founded by Zheng Rui, then Secretary of Hefei Municipal Party committee, and Yang Chengzong, then vice president of China University of science and technology, Chinese apprentice of Madame Curie and founder of radiochemistry of new China. In March 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the former Hefei United University, Hefei Institute of education and Hefei Normal University merged to form Hefei University.

Former Hefei United University
The former Hefei United University was founded in 1980 by 7 universities including China University of science and technology, Hefei University of technology and Anhui University. It is located in the middle of Huangshan Road. The names proposed at that time were "Anhui independent university", "Xingjin University", "Jianghuai University" and so on. During the Anti Japanese War, there was a "Southwest Associated University", which was jointly established by Tsinghua University, Peking University and Nankai University, and the running effect was very good. The University believes that this is also called the United University, which embodies the spirit of joint education.
On August 28, 1980, it was officially named "Hefei United University". The Faculty of Hefei United University is transferred from the University of science and technology, the University of technology and the University of security.
On October 11, 1980, the opening ceremony of the first batch of freshmen was held. Hefei United University is the first self funded Day University in China. At the time of its establishment, the mode of running a school in both colleges and universities was implemented.
Hefei United University set up a board of directors when it was founded. Zheng Rui, then Secretary of Hefei Municipal Party committee, was the chairman of the board. Yang Chengzong, then deputy director of the Standing Committee of Anhui Provincial People's Congress and former vice president of China University of science and technology, was the president. At the beginning of running a school, it tried out a different form of running a school from other universities at that time, namely "jointly running public assistance, appropriately charging fees, setting up majors according to social needs, not including distribution, recommending and employing the best, and socializing logistics".
The first enrollment of 357 students is four-year undergraduate course with Chinese Department, science and Engineering Department and English department.
In March 1985, Anhui Province and Lower Saxony of Germany signed an agreement on the co construction of Hefei United University on the basis of friendly provincial state relationship, making Hefei United University one of the two application-oriented universities assisted by Lower Saxony of Germany. The school has also trained a group of graduates for tax, finance, electric power, tobacco and other systems.
Former Hefei Institute of Education
The former Hefei Institute of education was formed by the merger of the former Hefei normal college and the former Hefei teachers' training school in 1981. It is located in the north section of Ningguo Road, covering an area of 64 mu. It is an adult college mainly for training middle school teachers and education management cadres. It also undertakes the undergraduate correspondence education of Anhui Normal University.
In 1993, it began to recruit full-time general college students, with majors in Chinese language and literature, history and geography, biochemistry, English, physical education, mathematics, physics, computer, primary education and applied electronics.
In 1997, it was recognized as "Hefei Continuing Education Center for professional and technical personnel" by Hefei Personnel Bureau,
In 1998, it was approved by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China as a "central normal education subsidy" University.
In 2000, with the approval of Anhui Provincial Department of education, it was decided to apply for the merger of Hefei United University, Hefei Institute of education and Hefei Normal University to form Hefei University.

Former Hefei normal school
The former Hefei normal school was founded in 1952 and located in the north section of Jinzhai Road. It was moved to the economic and Technological Development Zone in 1999. Its campus covers an area of 180 mu. It is a first-class normal school in Anhui Province.
During the cultural revolution, the school moved down to Taihe County in Huaibei.
It was restored in 1971. It was changed to Hefei normal college twice in 1958-1962 and 1978-1981 with the approval of the State Council.
In 1989, it became one of the first batch of pilot schools of the national new teaching program. Since 1995, it has undertaken the task of "Hefei primary school teacher training center"

In 2002, Hefei Normal University abolished its organizational system and merged into Hefei University.
Merging schools
On January 3, 2000, Zhang Xueping, vice mayor of Hefei, presided over the first meeting of the preparatory work leading group of Hefei University.
From September 5 to 6, 2001, a six member expert group of the Ministry of education headed by Li Jincai, President of Jianghan University, was entrusted by the Ministry of education to conduct a field investigation on the proposal of Anhui Provincial People's government to establish Hefei University on the basis of the merger of Hefei United University and Hefei Institute of education. The expert group agreed to submit it to the National College establishment appraisal committee for deliberation.
On March 14, 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China, the former Hefei United University, Hefei Institute of education and Hefei Normal University merged to establish Hefei University.
In 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of education, Hefei University was approved as a bachelor degree awarding unit.
At the end of 2009, a new round of undergraduate teaching evaluation sponsored by the Ministry of education of China was officially launched, and a trial evaluation was selected in the University. Germany center in Anhui, China, Korea Center in Hefei, China. In the same year, the school was listed as the provincial master construction unit by Anhui Provincial Department of education.
In April 2010, Hefei University and University of science and technology of China signed the "framework agreement on inter school strategic cooperation between University of science and technology of China Hefei University" and "agreement on joint training of professional degree postgraduates between University of science and technology of China Hefei University". In the same year, Hefei University and Anhui University of technology signed an agreement to jointly train postgraduates. On June 23, the college became one of the first batch of 61 Pilot Universities to undertake the "education and training plan for outstanding engineers".
In 2011, the University was approved as the pilot work unit of training master's degree graduates in the "talent training project serving the special needs of the country". Hefei University was officially approved as a master of Engineering (Environmental Engineering) unit. In 2012, the first graduate students of Hefei University successfully entered the University.
In 2012, Huangshan Road Campus of the college was relocated to nanyanhu campus as a whole, opening the road of running a school in the first district.
In April 2013, Hefei University signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Institute of process engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences
. In the same year, the Hefei Branch of German logistics association was established in Hefei University. The national e-commerce application (cadre) talent training engineering practice education base is located in Hefei University. In 2014, Hefei University was identified as one of the first batch of Anhui higher education revitalization plan "construction of Local Application-oriented high-level university" projects.
In December 2015, the signing ceremony of comprehensive cooperation between Hefei Institute of material sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Hefei University was held in Hefei University.
In July 2018, it was rated as the national innovation and entrepreneurship typical experience university in 2018 by the Ministry of education.
