Chengde building

Located in Songkou Town, Meijiang district, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, it is one of the best preserved traditional Hakka houses in Meizhou city. Liang jiongchanggong, the builder of the house, named Xinglou, is a member of the family of yizheguiwo in Anding, Jiaying prefecture (now Meizhou), Guangdong Province. During the 20th century, he was a leader of overseas Chinese in Siam (now Thailand) and also engaged in business.

Architectural features

Chengde building was founded in 1885 and completed in 1896. It took ten years. It covers an area of 3780 square meters. It is a double-layer structure of horse racing building, with three halls, two horizons, one dragon enclosure, eight halls, eight wells and eighteen halls. There are 83 rooms upstairs and downstairs, including Fengshui pond in front garden and Fengshui fruit trees in back garden. The whole floor is oval.

Weilong house is one of the five characteristic dwellings in China. It is not only unique in structure, exquisite in workmanship and exquisite in materials, but also highly practical and defensive. In terms of structure, it combines the advantages of Beijing's quadrangles, which are spacious, coherent and concentrated, and preserves many defensive functions of Fujian Tulou, which is mainly based on living conditions and supplemented by defensive safety.

Weilongwu is the crystallization of the diligence and wisdom of Meizhou Hakka people. It is not only large-scale, exquisite structure, but also strong and durable, reflecting the Hakka people's profound cultural heritage.
