Songbai Temple

Songbai temple is located next to Xingsha Cultural Park, which is about ten kilometers away from Changsha City. It covers an area of more than 20 mu. In front of the mountain gate, there are Beijing Zhuhai Expressway and national highway 107, which are across the road from Zhongnan Auto City. The temple is surrounded by green pines and cypresses, so it gets its name.

Temple History

According to historical records, Songbai temple was built in Shenzong period of Northern Song Dynasty, with a history of more than 900 years. At that time, the pines and cypresses in Songbai temple were green and green, with towering ancient trees, elegant environment and beautiful scenery. The temple was resplendent and magnificent, and it was a place for the great virtue monks to cultivate themselves and preach the Dharma. Every time an eminent monk gives a lecture, the believers are like clouds. For hundreds of years, the Sanskrit sound has been incessant and the incense has flourished, and there has been an endless stream of good men and women from and to temples.

Due to season and fate, the ancient pines and cypresses temple, after several catastrophes, gradually became ruins and even disappeared. In August 2002, with the strong support of the county Party committee and the county government, the temple held the opening ceremony of the Buddha statue. The provincial and municipal religious authorities, Buddhist associations and other relevant leaders, people from all walks of life and believers came to the temple to congratulate. In 2003, with the rapid development of Xingsha regional economy, the county Party committee and the county government strongly supported the regional tourism economy and the Buddhist cause, and made two free land transfers to the Songbai temple. The temple has changed from a narrow site in the past to a broad and open land of more than 20 mu. The temple building has begun to take shape. In the past, the activities were held to accommodate only a few hundred people, but now it is holding a nearly one-year activity A large-scale Dharma association with a thousand people is not crowded. Every day, the society receives as many as 600 believers and tourists.

In order to meet the needs and wishes of the broad masses of believers, master Zhaoguan, the abbot of the temple, made a new plan to further improve the facilities and functions of the temple. He has completed the reconstruction of FA Tang and 500 Luohan Tang. Each Luohan of 500 Luohan Tang is 1.35 meters high and is a pure camphor wood sculpture. Its scale will become the largest Luohan Tang in the whole province and even in China.
