Papanka
Papangka is a temple building in Chengguan District, Lhasa City, Tibet, China. It is said that it was built by King Songzanganbu of Tibet.
Introduction to scenic spots
"Papangka" in Tibetan means "Jushi Palace" or "playing on the stone". It is located in the mountain depression about nine kilometers west of sera temple in the north of Lhasa. Because the temple is built on two huge tortoise shaped rocks, it is named after it. It is said that before the construction of Xiaozhao temple, the Tibetan king Songzanganbu practiced here and presided over the construction of the palace. There is a cave under the boulder. It is said that it is the place where Songzan Ganbu practices. There is a platform in the cave, which is the throne of Songzan Ganbu. There are also some stone Buddha statues in the cave, which are said to be carved by Nepalese craftsmen. According to relevant Tibetan history records, the palace built at that time was nine stories high. It was built with bricks and filled with copper juice. Four iron chains were installed around the building. This is the "maruburg Palace" highly praised in Tibetan history. It is not only the place where Songzanganbu once received foreign envoys and talked about state affairs. It is said that tunmi, an important Minister of Songzanganbu. Sambuza studied writing and declaration from India. After returning to Tibet, he also lived in papangka. He studied for three years behind closed doors. According to Sanskrit and Urdu, he combined the sounds of Tibetan to create Tibetan. He first taught Songzanganbu and other ministers in papangka, and wrote six character mantra in Tibetan for the first time, which was engraved on stones. Then matsuzan Kampo announced that he would swallow rice. The Tibetan language created by sangbu is the unified language of Tubo Dynasty. Later, chisongdezan, master lianhuasheng and master kanqin of Sangye temple also came to papangka. It has always been an important place for Buddhist activities. More than 100 monks often chant sutras here. It became an important center of politics and Buddhism in the Tubo Period, and it can also be called the founding base of Tibetan.
