Ningbo Botanical Garden
Ningbo botanical garden, located in Zhenhai new town, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, is a key greening project in Ningbo City.
The overall planning of Ningbo botanical garden is divided into three areas: sports and leisure plant area, science popularization and sightseeing plant area and flower and horticultural plant area.
The first phase of the project was opened to the public on September 28, 2016.
From the date of resumption of opening up to December 31, it will be open free of charge to medical staff with valid certificates (doctor's practice certificate, nurse's practice certificate and ID card).
Historical evolution
Since 2005, Zhenhai District of Ningbo has invested 360 million yuan to build four ecological forest belts with a total area of 12000 mu, including Xiongzhen, Haitian, Qingfeng, Zhenluo, and a number of forest belt tourist attractions. On this basis, Ningbo botanical garden is planned to be built in Zhenhai new city.
In 2009, Zhenhai new town invited famous landscape design institutions from Canada, the United States, Singapore and China to participate in the scheme design. Finally, Shanghai Landscape Design Institute and Zhejiang Forestry University Landscape Design Institute jointly revised and integrated the scheme, and solicited "golden ideas" from the society. At the same time, the new city also invited domestic well-known botanical garden construction experts to act as consultants, and successively formulated "Ningbo botanical garden concept plan", "project feasibility report" and so on.
In 2014, 280 mu of Magnolia spring garden and cherry blossom and Begonia Garden landscape projects have been handed over for acceptance; 150 mu of flower and horticultural plant area landscape projects have also been completed; 800 mu of land terrain construction projects in the north of the railway in the popular science and tourism plant area have been completed by 70%, and 20% in the south of the railway.
As the first phase of Ningbo botanical garden construction project, science popularization and sightseeing botanical area and flower and horticultural botanical area will be opened to the public in autumn 2016. As the second phase project of botanical garden construction, sports leisure botanical area will be constructed through market operation after the first phase construction.
Ningbo botanical garden will open on September 28, 2016, which means that Ningbo will end the history of the only city without botanical garden among the 15 sub provincial cities. Ningbo botanical garden is located in Zhenhai new city. It is planned to be divided into three areas: popular science and tourism plant area, sports and leisure plant area and flower and horticultural plant area. From September 28, 2016 to April 28, 2017, the opening of the popular science and tourism plant area, 120 hectares, is the same as the YOUNGOR zoo. It is also the essence of the whole Ningbo botanical garden. The ticket price is 40 yuan, which will be halved during the trial operation period.
Since the first phase of the project started on January 17, 2015, less than two years ago, a 120 hectare Jiangnan Water charm botanical garden "blooms gracefully". More than 630 original plant species, more than 2000 horticultural varieties and more than 25000 arbors have been introduced into the garden, and the "plant kingdom" has begun to take shape.
The flower and horticultural plant area and sports and leisure plant area are planned to be constructed through socialized operation. Ningbo bonsai garden, located in the flower and horticultural plant area, has started construction and will be completed by the end of 2018.

Ningbo botanical garden is located in Zhenhai new town, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. It extends to the East Outer Ring Road in the East, north outer ring road in the south, national highway 329 in the West and Yongmao road in the north.

Sports leisure plant area
To the west of Century Avenue is a sports leisure plant area with the theme of plants and health, covering an area of 120 hectares. Taking the residents' fitness and leisure as the design concept, the planning contents include the Jubao Pavilion corresponding to the urban landscape axis and Zhaobaoshan in Zhenhai, the water street after the transformation of Hongjia old house, as well as tennis court, basketball court, baseball field, football field, gate court, golf swing field, sports club, VIP catering club and other venues for citizens' sports, entertainment and leisure.
Popular science sightseeing plant area
Between Century Avenue and zhoulingang is a popular science sightseeing plant area with the theme of plants and popular science, covering an area of 137 hectares.
The popular science and tourism plant area is designed with the concept of "old memory, new creativity" to see the different scenery of four seasons alternation, and to create a four seasons plant landscape experience area with the theme of "enjoying roses in spring, tasting lotus in summer, seeing golden osmanthus in autumn and exploring plum in winter". The popular science sightseeing area mainly focuses on popular science and sightseeing, and popularizes the knowledge of Botany in the form of more than 20 specialized gardens, plant evolution Road, exhibition greenhouse, etc. The design concept of the plan is to render different sceneries with the alternation of seasons, which shows the popular science and scientific functions of the botanical garden. The special gardens in the core area are divided into spring flower botanical area (Magnolia spring garden, bell sightseeing memorial garden, orchid garden, rose garden, peony garden, cherry blossom Begonia Garden and Lily Garden), summer scenery botanical area (aquatic hygrophyte garden and vine garden), autumn scenery botanical area (maple autumn fragrance garden) It is divided into eight areas, including the garden of Osmanthus fragrans and Lagerstroemia indica, the winter scenery botanical area (shishushi garden, pine and cypress garden, plum garden, bamboo garden, special economic botanical garden), the characteristic botanical area of eastern Zhejiang (Oriental herbal garden and ancient sunken wood garden), the entrance Exhibition area (sijibaihua garden), the road of plant evolution, and the center of greenhouse science popularization.
Mulan chunse garden and cherry blossom Begonia Garden are located in the south of the railway in the popular science and tourism plant area. They are a small part of the popular science and tourism plant area. They have planted 4700 trees, 40000 square meters of shrubs and ground cover plants, 83500 square meters of lawns, and about 250 plant species.
Flower and horticultural plant area
To the east of zhoulingang is a flower and horticultural plant area with the theme of plants and life, covering an area of 65 hectares.
The flower and horticultural botanical garden is a comprehensive professional flower and horticultural botanical garden integrating flower and tree display, logistics, e-commerce, eco-tourism and leisure tourism.
The Ningbo botanical garden, with its retained 800 metre old fellow rail as its carrier, has created a "plant evolution road" from low to high plants, and will be planted with Chinese fir, metasequoia, tipping, and Mexico cypress. There are more than 3000 kinds of rare plants in the garden.
Characteristic scenic spots
The path of plant evolution: Based on a 650 meter old abandoned rail, it perfectly integrates the concept of flower border and flower path. Tourists can train old fellow plants to feel the evolution process of plants and the beauty of natural growth and combination. This is the only gardening landscape belt built in the domestic botanical garden by using the old train tracks. Old fellow trains are on the train and have time to pass through.
"Aquatic forest": covering an area of 4.9 hectares, the area has collected and planted 72 kinds of aquatic trees, including Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Larix kaempferi, Quercus virginiana, Quercus salicifolia, Salix alba, American water yew and Betula platyphylla, with a total of more than 2000 trees, creating the park with the richest aquatic woody plants in the domestic botanical garden. In autumn and winter, stroll along the wooden plank road, or drive a boat through the dense forest to enjoy the different scenery of the forest in the water and the forest in the water.
"Tianchi fairyland": the area of more than 4600 square meters of ferns and streams is equipped with more than 2700 spray devices. Every few seconds, the fine droplets of water turn into white fog, and spray out from the ground and rock cracks. It's like entering a dreamland.
"Smart Park": more than 270 monitoring heads are set in the park, realizing the full coverage of networked and intelligent monitoring and protection system, as well as the full coverage of wireless WiFi. Nearly 7000 tree signs have been set up in the park. By scanning wechat QR code with mobile phone, the park can automatically connect to the authoritative website of plant science popularization and have close contact with horticulture. The park has introduced the "zhiyoubao" platform, and realized intelligent applications such as ticket detection system, GIS geographic information system and cloud service platform management, bringing a new experience to the park.

Ningbo botanical garden will open to the public in the autumn of 2016.
The transportation of Ningbo botanical garden is very convenient. In addition to the planned rail lines 2, 3 and 5, it can also be reached through the north outer ring road, East Outer Ring Road, Century Avenue and national highway 329.
