Chicheng Drum Tower

Chicheng Drum Tower is located in the north of Chicheng County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. From the center of the drum tower to the four sides, there are East Street, West Street, South Street and North Street of the drum tower.

Chicheng Drum Tower was built in 1509 A.D. in the fourth year of Zhengde of Ming Dynasty. It has been rebuilt twice in the Qing Dynasty and 1985. It is a brick and wood structure with a total height of 16.4 meters. Among them, the pier is 6.9 meters high, the bottom is 13.4 meters long from north to South and 16 meters long from east to west, covering an area of 215 square meters.

Now it is a key cultural relic protection unit in Hebei Province.

Chicheng Drum Tower was built in 1509 A.D. in the fourth year of Zhengde of Ming Dynasty. It was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty and 1985. It is a brick and wood structure with a total height of 16.4 meters. Among them, the pier is 6.9 meters high, the bottom is 13.4 meters long from north to South and 16 meters long from east to west, covering an area of 215 square meters. In the middle of the pier and abutment, there is a large arched door opening in the north-south direction. The front door is engraved with the word "Ming" and the shadow door is engraved with the word "control". On both sides of the back of the pier and abutment, there are arched gateways, which go up to the terrace. The pier is surrounded by a 1.1-meter-high parapet. You can have a panoramic view of the mountain city. The building is five rooms wide and three rooms deep. It is a cloister type building with double eaves on the top of Xieshan mountain. The Dou Gong is made of chongang Wupu. Its shape is different from that of ordinary Ming Dynasty buildings. Wooden steps are set on one side of the building to get to the top floor. On all sides of the top floor, there were many gold inscriptions, such as "Xiacheng cuixiu", "Tiankai wenyuanyun", "spectacular" and "transcendence". The most influential one is "Wenguang shedou" written by Rao Zhiyong, a native of the city, which makes the towering Drum Tower more solemn.
