Tuwa people are an ancient ethnic group in China. They live by nomadism and hunting. In the past 400 years, they have settled down on the Bank of Kanas Lake. They are brave and strong, good at riding, skiing, singing and dancing. Now they basically maintain a relatively primitive way of life. Log based wooden houses, scattered villages, small bridges, flowing water, smoke curling, milk wine fragrance. The rustic scenery of the village is as mysterious as Kanas Lake.

Kanas Tuwa village is located in the Kanas River Valley 2-3km away from the South Bank of Kanas. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains and waters and beautiful environment. It is the only way to travel from burjin county to Kanas Lake, with an altitude of 1390m.

History of Tuva

The residents of Kanas Tuwa village are Tuwa people who call themselves Mongolian. Tuwa is also called "Tuwa" or "dewa" or "kumenqiak". It has a long history and has been recorded as early as in ancient literature. It was called "DUBAO" in Sui and Tang Dynasties, and "Tuba", "tubas" and "wulianghai people" in Yuan Dynasty. Some scholars believe that the Tuwa people are part of the old, weak, sick and disabled soldiers left by Genghis Khan during the western expedition, and have gradually multiplied to this day. The middle-aged elders in Kanas village say that they belong to the same nationality as the Tuva people in the Republic of Russia.

The living habits of Tuva people

Tuwa people keep their own unique living habits and language. Tuwa language belongs to the Altaic Turkic language family, which is similar to the Kazakh language family. Therefore, Tuwa people can speak Kazakh, which is different from Mongolian. The Tuva school basically popularizes Mongolian. In terms of living habits, in addition to the traditional Oboo Festival, Tuwa people also celebrate the zoulu Festival (Winter Festival), the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival on the 15th of the first month of the Han nationality. The Tuva believe in Buddhism. But Shamanism also had a deep influence on them. The houses of Tuwa people are all built with logs, with a square structure at the bottom and a pointed structure at the top. They still lived in yurts when they were nomadic.

In the setting sun, the small wooden houses with pointed roofs and Swiss style in Tuva village reflect a warm golden light. The pine trees beside the hut were scattered in twos and threes, all tall and straight. There are also birch trees in the village, one by one scattered among the pine trees. Because of the snow-white branches, they are very conspicuous. Coupled with the vigorous crown, they are like big umbrellas. Behind Tuva village is the friendship peak on the border between China and Russia. The Siberian wind blows from the friendship peak. As the terrain drops, it suddenly warms, and this thick mountain forest is bred.

Traffic information: take a plane to Kanas, from the airport to Jarden Valley (entrance of the scenic spot) takes 1 hour by car.

Self driving, from Urumqi to Buerjin, takes 10 hours (including lunch time); from Buerjin to jiadengyu, 150km, takes about 2 hours.

Take a bus from Urumqi to Buerjin, then charter a bus to Kanas, or take a bus to Hemu (there is a bus at 10:00 every morning)

Take the shuttle bus in Kanas Scenic Area, take the bus at jiadengyu ticket station, departure time: from 8:00 a.m. to 21:00 p.m. in peak season, every 5 minutes. At night, there are five inter district buses on duty.
