Pu Shou Temple
Located at the southern end of Dongzhuang village, Taihuai Town, Wutai County, Shanxi Province, Putou temple in Wutai Mountain was founded in the Northern Song Dynasty. After reconstruction in 1908, it was dedicated to the 13th Dalai Lama. In 1991, master rurui and master Miaoyin founded China Wutaishan Buddhist law school.
Temple style
The newly built Pu Shou temple is located in the north to the south, covering an area of 19988 square meters. The temple is divided into East and West courtyard. The east courtyard is huge. In front of it is a very beautiful white marble archway. The lower layer is built with green bricks, and the upper layer is built with wood structure. It has single eaves, five ridges and four corridors. On the front of the gate is a stone plaque with the words "Pu Shou Temple". As soon as the West courtyard enters into four small quadrangles, the first is the courtyard of the heavenly king's hall. The front of the courtyard is the heavenly king's hall, with three bays and a single eaves resting on the top of the mountain. In the center of the hall, there is a wooden niche for Maitreya Buddha carved in stone. On the back, there are painted sculptures for general Wei Tuo and four heavenly kings between the two mountains. On both sides of the temple are the second floor of the bell and drum. There are 24 East and West buildings, and the East building is the guest hall. There are famous calligraphy and paintings on the walls. Among them is a couplet written by Zhao Puchu, the former president of the Chinese Buddhist Association: "Hengshun is a cool and universal way for all living beings, diligently practicing Buddhism, and willing to live and support longevity monks.".
The second courtyard is a lecture hall, with five front lecture halls, a single eaves roll shed roof, and built-in rows of tables and stools. It is a classroom for monks to attend classes. There are 24 East-West buildings for monks. The ear room in the northeast corner is the ancestral hall, in which the Dharma image of master Tongyuan is hung, and the relic tower of master Tongyuan is provided. The colorful relic can be seen through the small mirror.
The third courtyard is puguangming hall, with three bays and double eaves on the top of the mountain. Inside is a wood carving of "three saints of the west", with amitabha in the middle, Guanyin Bodhisattva on the right and dashizhi Bodhisattva on the left. The "three saints of the west" are dedicated to the Jade Buddha of Myanmar and the bronze Manjusri statue with arrow. There are 28 East-West buildings.
The fourth courtyard is wuguantang courtyard, with two-story buildings on the front, seven on the top and seven on the bottom. The first floor is Wuguan hall, where monks eat. There is a couplet beside the door: "if you have virtue, you know shame, you can easily fight for money; if you don't learn to practice, you can't hold on to it. The second floor is the Dharma hall, with rows of futons built in. It is the place where monks sit and chant Buddhism. There are 28 East-West buildings.
Pu Shou temple is a model of Chinese Buddhism and a cradle of Buddhist talents.
Long term planning
It is the historical mission of the Buddhists to "solemnize the land, be happy and affectionate". In order to conform to the times, repay the country and protect the interests of the people
In order to achieve Buddhism's great wish to benefit the society and the people. The whole interface of Buddhism is faced with the problem of improving the quality of monks in an all-round way. Improving the quality includes two aspects: one is to improve the realm of Buddhist practice; the other is to improve the scientific and cultural literacy of the world. In the 21st century, with the high development of material civilization, people's demand for spiritual civilization is also increasing rapidly. The new generation of Chinese leaders conform to the requirements of the times and put forward new ideas such as "rule of virtue", "harmonious society and harmonious world"; the theme of the first World Buddhist Forum is "harmonious world, starting from the heart". It can be predicted that Buddhism will play a very important role in the "moral project" of world civilization, and take on an unshirkable mission in purifying people's hearts, charity relief, and safeguarding world peace and equality.
Zhao Puchu, former president of China Buddhist Association, pointed out that the self construction of monks includes five aspects: Belief Construction, morality construction, organization construction, teaching system construction and talent construction. In these five constructions, talent construction is the key. With talent, there is everything. People can promote Taoism, not Taoism. In order to comply with the requirements of the times, we put forward the "three plus one" project and its implementation plan according to our own actual situation.
"Three" refers to three organizations: pushou temple, Mahayana temple and Bodhi Love Association;
"One" refers to the first charity undertaking undertaken by Bodhi Love Association - qingtai'an Yangyuan. The main frame of "three plus one" project is as follows
* monastic base - pushou temple in Wutai Mountain;
* education base - Yuci Mahayana temple;
The Bodhi Love Association, the center for promoting Buddhist culture;
The Western Express - Qing Tai'an Yangyuan.
A brief introduction to Buddhist College
Pushou temple in Wutai Mountain
The Buddhist College was founded in 1992. In 1998, with the approval of the Chinese Buddhist Association, our college was affiliated to the Chinese Buddhist College, and was renamed "Wutaishan Buddhist College of China Buddhist College". The college covers an area of 7600 square meters, and the building area of teaching, research and living facilities is more than 10000 square meters. Classroom, library, reading room, sutra library, ruyiliao (which can provide medical services such as Chinese and Western Medicine), sewing room, supply room, recording room, computer room, Guantang, and sangliao (i.e. Xueseng dormitory) are all available for hundreds of monks and nuns to study and live in.
Education and teaching
Five departments and Buddhist Chanting Hall: Discipline Department, law research department, Huayan department, pure land department, logistics department, Buddhist Chanting Hall
1、 Purpose and program of study
Our academy inherits the learning tenet advocated by master shangtongxiayuan all his life, that is, to take Huayan as the religion, discipline as the behavior, and pure land as the destination.
According to this aim, the three major programs are as follows:
Learn to be dignified and not humiliate monks, change their faults and prove Bodhi early
After reading Dajue, I am willing to do my best
Self interest, self-interest, self-cultivation, self-discipline
2、 Educational policy and purpose
--The educational policy of the Buddhist College is as follows:
We should spread Buddha's doctrines, cultivate patriotic monks, strictly abide by the rules and customs, expand Buddhist culture, integrate learning and cultivation, and live in a jungle.
--The purpose of education is to:
To cultivate monks with both ability and moral integrity, paying equal attention to both understanding and practice, abboting Buddhism and serving the society. The Buddhist Academy not only imparts Buddhist cultural knowledge, but also pays more attention to the study of the Buddhists in the monk group
Through the education mode of paying equal attention to both study and practice, we can cultivate the monks who have the basic monastic ceremony and character and the Abbot's Dharma.
3、 Education system
Guided by the idea of "integration of learning and training and the jungle of learning monks", we inherited the training of the Qing Dynasty's jungle, and assimilate the essence of modern education system, integrating traditional jungle education with modern college education, forming a modern Buddhist education system which is mainly run by the jungle, and managed by the jungle and college in a unified way. . As a modern Buddhist College, monks study various courses in accordance with the cultivation plan. At the same time, as a forest of ten directions, the public also have to follow the precepts, such as morning bell and evening drum, morning and evening two lessons, chanting Sutras in the hall, half moon saying precepts, and living freely The monks lived together in Liuhe, and the monks were at ease to study and run Taoism. Their studies and Taoism complemented each other.
4、 Organizational structure and management system
Under the leadership of the head of the court, the supervision institute, the Temple Committee and the Advisory Group, the temple affairs department and the teaching department are combined and each performs its own duties.
The temple consists of eight management departments, including logistics department, guest hall department, construction department, finance department, law and instrument department, legal affairs department, academic discipline department, and Baoen Yuan Department; the college consists of five teaching departments, including Discipline Department, law research department, Huayan department, pure land department, and Guangxue department; each department has 2-3 persons in charge of temple affairs, permanent residence, academic affairs, teaching and practice. The deacons, big and small, have a clear division of labor and clear responsibilities. They can perform their own duties and cooperate closely.
Since its founding, the temple has formulated a series of rules and regulations on the basis of the "Regulations on public housing", including the regulations for students, the regulations for the minority, the regulations for the main hall, the observation hall, the lecture hall, the regulations for the guest hall, the Daliao, the ruyiliao, and the regulations for the public and private warehouses. Besides the precepts, the monks should abide by other rules. The masses lived an organized, disciplined, moral, pure and harmonious life in the monks' group, and initially formed a set of effective management system.
5、 Educational project, length of schooling and teaching content
The educational programs of our college mainly include: minority class, preparatory class, housing training class, specialized class, Ju Shi Jing Xing class, ordinary class, intermediate class, advanced class and research class. All the nuns who come to the temple to study must first complete the six-year public education in the Department of precepts. After passing the examination, they can choose the method suitable for their own root according to their own wishes and enter other teaching departments to study and practice.
The Ministry of discipline is mainly responsible for basic education. After six years of discipline and knowing the two principles of becoming a monk, it can further study the classics and other special knowledge. The department usually takes the traditional public class as the main form of teaching. After class, each class discusses and the students repeat. Each grade offers different courses according to the syllabus. From the beginning of xia'anju training class, mainly through three months of study, young Buddhist monks from all over the country who have received precepts can enter the Ministry of precepts to receive formal education after they have roughly mastered the specific contents of the precepts. The length of schooling of ordinary class, intermediate class and advanced class is two years respectively. The main courses are bhiksuni's precepts, a brief explanation of random karma, four points of great temperament (Volume 60) and three major parts of Nanshan (Volume 80). In addition, the daily teaching also pays attention to the practice of both learning and practice.
The basic knowledge of Buddhism is mainly understood in the preparatory class and the pure walk class; the minority class, including shamniban and shichaniban, mainly studies the ten commandments of shamniban and the three dharmas of shichaniban.
