Chongqing Guotai Art Center is located in the CBD core area of Jiefangbei Central Business District, Yuzhong District, Chongqing. It is located in the Linjiang Branch Road, surrounded by Jiangjia lane, Qingnian Road and zoureng Road, with a land area of 2.91 hectares. It was started on December 30, 2007 and completed on January 25, 2013. The appearance is characterized by the interweaving and stacking of black and red "topic collection", which looks like a burning bonfire from a distance.

Chongqing Cathay Art Center is composed of Cathay Grand Theater and Chongqing Art Museum. It is one of the top ten cultural public welfare facilities. In September 2006, it was officially named Cathay Art Center.

Cathay Pacific Grand Theater has regional and distinctive characteristics in color. Among the tall buildings, red corners are exposed, bringing people a sense of direction and belonging. Combined with the complexity of its own architectural function, it creates a texture with oriental characteristics which is infiltrated and integrated with the external urban space. In different texture blocks, the overall image of the building is formed through contact, infiltration and communication. The inspiration of architectural design comes from a multi bucket arch component in Huguang guild hall in Chongqing. It uses the traditional bucket arch space to express the spiritual connotation of traditional architecture in a modern and simple way. It is the most essential spiritual pursuit of Chongqing people that the components of the building are interpenetrated, overlapped and overhanging with each other. The total construction area is more than 30000 square meters, the planned land area is 9646 square meters, and the total investment is 500 million yuan. The foundation was laid on December 30, 2007 and put into use in 2013.

The basement 2 of the main building of Cathay Art Center is a parking garage, which can park 100 small vehicles. There are mainly two small theaters on the first floor underground (partially semi underground); the first floor above the ground is for equipment and auxiliary rooms; the second, third, fourth and fifth floors above the ground are mainly for 800 theaters; the sixth and seventh floors above the ground are for art museums. According to the decision of the 74th executive meeting of the municipal government, the renovation and transformation of the old building of the former Sino British Liaison Office on the west side of the Cultural Square will be incorporated into the unified construction of Cathay Art Center and will be part of the exhibition hall of the art museum. The total area of the old building is about 850 square meters. The architectural form comes from the multiple Dou Gong components of Huguang guild hall in Chongqing. The whole construction method is based on the "Titao" construction method in the book of Han Dynasty, and uses the traditional component interspersed form to express the spiritual connotation of traditional architecture in modern and concise way. The "topic collection" in architecture is interspersed with each other, overlapped, and overhanging components are raised high to let nature take its course, trying to reflect the visual impact and sculpture sense of Chinese architecture. The special texture effect pursued by design is also the most essential spiritual pursuit of Chongqing people. It also takes the traditional musical instrument "Sheng" as the carrier of culture to create a harmonious image of "Sheng" ping in modern urban life. The whole building is like a red bonfire, burning in joy; the bright red color represents the traditional Chinese color, wealth and auspiciousness, and is like the red oil hot pot in Chongqing, which shows the characteristics of Ba people's forthright, straightforward, warm and hospitable personality. On January 25, 2013, Cathay Art Center, which took six years to build, will officially "open" and perform its first big play. As one of the top ten public welfare facilities in Chongqing, this breathing building made of nearly 8000 tons of steel has won the 10th China steel structure Gold Award.

The concert hall, which can hold 350 people, is also known as the first "no plug-in Concert Hall" in Chongqing, without any amplifying equipment and microphone. At the beginning of the design, the acoustic principle was fully considered. The human voice can be transmitted through the hexagonal room walls and various special materials, clear and bright without distortion. In addition to the seats in the stands, there are more than 20 auditoriums on the left and behind the stage. It is suitable for small-scale concert performance. The audience can feel the voice and breath of the singer from a close distance when sitting on the stage. If it is playing piano, they can even see the face of the performer when they look up. This is also the only Concert Hall in Chongqing where the auditorium is set on the stage.
