Caoling

Caoling, also known as fanpingkeng, is located in the eastern mountainous area of Gukeng Township, Yunlin County. The terrain is slightly basin like, and it is located in the center of Alishan, Xitou and Ruili scenic spots. A great earthquake in 1941 cut the Horda mountain in the northwest of Benzhuang, Caoling into two parts, but it caused many strange landscapes, such as topography, rocks and valleys.

If you like to take risks, you might as well take a walk on the cliff. With the rope and safety net hanging from the top of the rock, you can climb this cliff with a slope of about 40 degrees, a width of about 70 meters and a height of about 150 meters to stimulate your enjoyment. Cliff spring and autumn and Soul Valley are the same landscapes created by the great earthquake of that year. The former section is like a knife cut, straight cut down about one kilometer long longitudinal section. The latter is a 30 meter wide and 40 meter deep canyon, located 200 meters below the cliff spring and autumn, with steep cliffs on both sides. On the northern cliff, there are three waterfalls flowing from the top of the valley to the bottom.

In addition, Penglai waterfall is the main water source of Caoling. Frog stone and beehive rock are both rare stones eroded by mountain springs. Lianzhu pool used to be a large rock slab with an area of about two hectares, which has been eroded by rain for many years, forming a series of connected and rosary like small pools.

Take the bus: 1. Take the Ilan line train from Taipei and Badu, and get off at Gongliao station. 2. If you enter the mountain from Tiangong temple in Dali, you can take the Taiqi passenger train from Taipei North Station to Yilan and Luodong, and get off at Tiangong temple. Self driving: take Badu interchange road down the expressway, along provincial road 2 Ding to Ruifang, then take County Road 102 to Gongliao via Jiufen and Shuangxi; then from the right side of Gongliao railway station, walk along the industrial road beside yuanwangkeng stream, and after passing yuanwangkeng bridge, you can reach the entrance of the ancient road directly opposite fufu temple. About 43.2 km from the interchange.
