history
After the Tainan Dagou section of the longitudinal line was opened to traffic in 1900, a Dagou parking lot was set up at today's Kaohsiung port station as the terminal station of the longitudinal line. In 1907, another "Fengshan branch line" was set up from Dagou: it reached Fengshan through sanguancuo and dagangpu, and then extended to Pingdong, which is the predecessor of today's Pingdong line.
With the significant increase of railway passenger and freight volume, the stations are gradually inadequate. Therefore, in line with the urban planning, a new station was built in dagangpu, which was still undeveloped and had a wide hinterland at that time. In addition, the development of the new urban area around the new station was also taken into consideration. The new station started construction in 1933 and was completed in 1940. On June 22, 1941, Kaohsiung station was officially opened. On the same day, the original Kaohsiung station was renamed Kaohsiung port station.
The new Kaohsiung station is very close to the sankuacuo post in the era of Fengshan branch line. Later, it completely took over the business of passenger and freight transportation, and finally it was abolished.
June 22, 1941 (16 years of Showa): Kaohsiung post was completed. The shape of the post is similar to the "high" shape. The station with the crown style roof has the momentum of the king coming to the world
October 31, 1971: add Kaohsiung back station.
March 28, 2002: in cooperation with the underground railway project, the old station building moved to the southeast 82.6 meters to preserve, and was built as "Kaohsiung vision Museum".
In 2003, vision Museum of Kaohsiung was officially opened. It is a digital museum to show and witness the development history of Kaohsiung.
November 2, 2013: the railway reconstruction engineering bureau built the old station building into "Kaohsiung underground railway exhibition hall", setting up the first underground railway engineering exhibition hall in China.
