Jiangongyu

Jiangongyu

Located at the mouth of the Wujiang River at the South Gate of Jincheng Town, Jinmen Island, Jiangong island covers an area of about 500 square meters. Because early people knew little about leprosy, leprosy patients were sent here to live and die on their own. Jiangong island is only about 500 meters away from Kinmen Island. When the sea water is at its ebb, you can walk to the island. However, when the tide is high, it is submerged all around. After the KMT came to Jinmen in 1949, because of the need of Wujiang River to the sea, it used the terrain to build fortifications and blockhouses, becoming a solid and tight island fortress, which is a rare military landscape in the world. There are five existing fortresses on the island, as well as kitchens, bathrooms, radio rooms, political war rooms, barracks and other relics. When the tide ebbs, tourists can climb the island on foot by haishiban road paved by Jinmen county government, Visit this mysterious island. The government of Jinmen county will also plan to provide a military summer camp for junior college students during the summer vacation, with 20 students per echelon to experience the military atmosphere at that time!

Kinmen's newest tourist attraction is Jiangong Island, which is isolated from the mouth of Wujiang River and can only be boarded at low tide. Jiangong island was called Jatropha reef before, because at that time, all the leprosy patients were sent to this island to survive and die on their own. Later, because of its geographical position, it became a military important place.

It was not until August 2003 that the island was open for sightseeing. After landing on the island, you can see the five empty blockhouses and barracks left behind in the past. In addition to the military color, the most attractive part of Jiangong island lies in its rich intertidal ecology.

Near the starting point of the cross sea stone road on jiangongyu Island, you can see the royal temple of Yanping County in memory of Zheng Chenggong. Since the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, the development history of Jinmen has a close relationship with Zheng Chenggong. Now there are many places in Jinmen that Zheng Chenggong left behind.
