Wuliuxiang historic district

Wuliu Lane in Hangzhou starts from Doufu third bridge in the South and ends at Daoyuan Lane in the north. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Wuliu garden was built here, so it got its name. In the old days, it was the residence of high-ranking officials, but later it became the habitat of common people. Most of the residents were small handicraftsmen and traders. In 1907, the railway station was built inside the gate of taimen in Qing Dynasty.

The lane still retains the Lane building built in the period of the Republic of China, which has been included in the protection plan of historical and cultural blocks by Hangzhou municipal government.

Wuliuxiang historical area is located in an important area of Hangzhou ancient city, with numerous historical relics. In Song Dynasty, the East River was a city river. At that time, the area belonged to songzhifang and xinglifang. In Yuan Dynasty, the city wall expanded eastward, and the East River became a river channel in the city.
