Located at No. 12, madalu lane, Zhongjie Road, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom armory site was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Suzhou in 1982. The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom armory site was originally built in the Ming Dynasty as the "Shenxiu hall" of Qiu's house. Before the Taiping Army entered Suzhou in 1860, the owner of the house left the city with his family to avoid chaos. When I returned after the war, I saw coal, iron, artillery, shells and so on in the courtyard. It was obvious that I had worked as an ordnance workshop, and it was also said that it was the ordnance Institute of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. During the reign of Tongzhi, Qiu had rebuilt his house.
In the early 1960s, weapons such as stone shells, round iron mines, sawn iron cannons and Taiping Army sabres were discovered and unearthed from the ground of the courtyard. It is estimated that they were buried on the spot when the house was rebuilt. The whole house covers an area of nearly 4000 square meters, with a construction area of 3000 square meters. It faces south and has three roads and four entrances. On the Middle Road, there are hall, car hall, hall and hall in turn. In addition to the sedan hall and hall with the architectural style of Ming Dynasty, other buildings in the house were mostly rebuilt in Qing Dynasty. In front of the study on the West Road, there is a white pine, which can be hugged. It is about three feet high. It was also a thing of the Ming Dynasty. In 1994, the cultural relic management department carried out a comprehensive renovation of the hall, and the rest of the buildings were still scattered as dwellings.
