Historical evolution
Zhejiang sericulture College
In August 1897 (the 23rd year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu), Lin Qi, the governor of Hangzhou, founded the silkworm learning museum near the Guandi temple and yixianwang Temple (now in the Fenghe Park of Quyuan), which opened the curtain of modern Chinese textile and silk education.
In 1908 (the 34th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu), Zeng Kai, the new governor of Zhejiang Province, asked the Qing government to change the name of the school to "Zhejiang higher sericulture school" because of its effective running.
After the revolution of 1911, the school was renamed Zhejiang higher sericulture school in 1912.
In 1913, the school was renamed Zhejiang provincial sericulture school.
In 1926, the school changed its name to Zhejiang sericulture vocational college.
In 1927, from the fifth grade, there were two majors, silk making and sericulture, and they began to recruit female students.
In 1928, the school was renamed as Zhejiang senior silkworm and mulberry branch middle school.
In 1934, it was renamed Hangzhou silk vocational school in Zhejiang Province until 1949.
In 1937, the Japanese imperialists launched the war of aggression against China, and the school moved to ten places, from western Zhejiang, eastern Zhejiang to southern Zhejiang. It went through hardships, but the teachers and students shared a common hatred, United Against Japan, and persisted in class.
In September 1945, the war of resistance against Japan was won. In December 1945, the school moved back to Hangzhou and continued to recruit new students in the spring and autumn of 1946.
In May 1949, Hangzhou was liberated.
In 1950, the school set up a branch in Xiaoshan.
Hangzhou Textile Industry School
In the spring of 1952, according to the instructions of the Central Government Council on rectifying and developing secondary technical education and implementing specialized school running, the silk making part of the silk vocational school became Zhejiang silk making technical school, and the sericulture part of the silk vocational school merged with the national Huzhou senior sericulture school to establish Zhejiang sericulture technical school.
At the end of the same year, Zhejiang silk technology school was renamed Hangzhou Textile Industry School, and the textile department of the former Zhejiang Industrial cadre school was also incorporated.
In the summer of 1953, Zhejiang workers' technical school was merged into Hangzhou Textile Industry School.
In 1958, Zhejiang Textile College was established on the basis of Hangzhou Textile Industry School.
In 1959, silk engineering and silk weaving began to recruit four-year undergraduates.
In 1960, Zhejiang Textile College merged with some departments of Zhejiang University as well as electrical and mechanical colleges to establish Hangzhou Institute of technology.
In 1961, Hangzhou Institute of technology was abolished, and some departments were merged into Zhejiang University. At the same time, Zhejiang Textile College was restored to a four-year undergraduate program.
Zhejiang Institute of silk technology
In 1962, the school was renamed Zhejiang silk college.
In 1964, the State Council approved the name of Zhejiang Silk Institute of technology.
During the ten years of the cultural revolution, the school moved two places and suffered serious interference and damage. In 1970, the college was transferred to Hangzhou polytechnic school.
In 1975, with the approval of the State Council, Zhejiang Silk Institute of technology was restored under the leadership of Zhejiang Province.

In September 1998, with the approval of the State Council, the subordinate relationship of the school was changed from the former textile ministry directly under the central government and Zhejiang Province, with Zhejiang Province as the main management.
On May 8, 1999, with the approval of the Ministry of education, Zhejiang Institute of silk technology was renamed Zhejiang Institute of engineering.

On May 17, 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the University changed its name to Zhejiang University of technology.
In 2006, he was granted the right to confer doctoral degree.
In 2010, with the approval of the Ministry of education, it was recommended to be an excellent fresh undergraduate to study for master's degree without examination.
