Xunliao Bay

Xunliao coastal resort is located in the core of Renping Peninsula, Xunliao Town, in the south of Huidong County. It is only 7km away from Guangshan highway (National Highway 324) and 21km away from Baiyun entrance and exit of Shenshan expressway. It is known as "heaven given Baisha dike". The sea route is 43 nautical miles to Hong Kong, 41 nautical miles to Shenzhen and 12 nautical miles to Aotou port in Huizhou. With a total area of 105 square kilometers, it has 27 kilometers of coastline. The water depth along the coast is 2-4 meters. The sea water is clear and green, surrounded by a variety of strange reefs and rocks. It has the reputation of "blue Emerald" and "heaven given platinum dike". The water quality and atmospheric environmental quality of Xunliao sea area are determined to be the first class national standard. The coastline is circuitous, with seven mountains, eight bays and eighteen sceneries. In 1993, Xunliao Bay was rated as a Municipal Tourist Resort by Huizhou Tourism Bureau.

During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, a group of refugees came to this barren place and settled down in "Liao" with thatch. "Xun" (Cantonese pronunciation "Shun") is the Xun hexagram in the eight trigrams, symbolizing peace, smooth and auspicious. Along the coastline of 27 square kilometers, there are eight tortuous bay beaches, such as Xunliao Bay, Songyuan Bay, and fucao Bay, along the mountain and sea. Xunliao Bay

According to legend, the statue of Mazu worshipped in amamiao was originally worshipped in the Mazu temple in fanhegang, Renshan town. After a typhoon tide, the statue of Mazu drifted to Xunliao Bay and stayed on the beach of Fengchi island. Local fishermen respect Mazu very much, so they built a temple for her on the beach. Because the statue of Mazu was floated from Fanhe harbor, in order to protect the fishermen in Fanhe and Xunliao, it is worshipped in the amamiao temple in Fanhe harbor and Xunliao Bay half the time every year.
