Sun Yat sen University is the highest University in South China and a national key comprehensive research university. Sun Yat sen University was founded in 1924, formerly known as national Guangdong University. It was founded by Dr. Sun Yat Sen after integrating Guangdong Normal University, Guangzhou Public University of law and Guangdong public agricultural school. Later, it was renamed "National Sun Yat sen University" and "national first Sun Yat sen University". In 1935, it established a research institute. In October 2001, the former Sun Yat sen University and Sun Yat Sen Medical University merged to form a new China University Mountain University.

Sun Yat sen University is a national "985 Project" University and "211 Project" key construction university. The Ministry of education has approved the establishment of 56 universities with graduate schools, 34 universities with independent graduate entrance examination, and 32 key construction universities at the vice ministerial level. It is a comprehensive key university including humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, technological sciences, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, economics and management.

Zhuhai Campus of Sun Yat sen University is two hours' drive away from Guangzhou south campus and 1.5 hours' drive away from Guangzhou east campus. The Zhuhai Campus of CUHK has complete infrastructure in teaching, experiment, books, life, culture, sports, etc., with a total construction area of 240000 square meters and a total investment of nearly 1 billion yuan. The teaching building of the campus is 77000 square meters, which can accommodate 20000 students. Teaching and experimental building

Zhuhai Campus teaching experimental building is the longest and largest teaching building in Asia. The building has a total length of 571.2 meters, a width of 37.2 meters, a building area of 76000 square meters, a total of 179 classrooms, which can accommodate 20000 students at the same time. The building has a five storey structure, with a total height of 22.6 meters. The first floor is an overhead floor, with a height of 6 meters. The bottom is connected from east to west to build a large flower bed. The front of the building is decorated with five large colored spheres, red, yellow and blue, which are inclined from right to left, then gradually upright, and finally upright, implying the process of breeding, hatching and growth of life. The library building in Zhuhai Campus of Sun Yat sen University is like an open book, with a total construction area of about 36000 square meters and a total of 13 floors. The saturated collection is about 2-2.5 million copies. The first to tenth floors of the west block of the existing library have been put into use. Gymnasium

The unique style gymnasium adopts natural foundation and steel cable structure, the exterior wall adopts color profiled steel plate, and the roof is large-span color steel plate. The total construction area is nearly 9000 square meters, and the total length of the gymnasium is 120 meters and the width is 70 meters.
