It was originally named Yuanxing temple, also known as Yanzi temple. According to the records of Kaohsiung City annals, it was originally built in the 8th year of Qianlong (1743) and the 17th year of Guangxu (1891). The whole temple was destroyed by fire. After many changes, it was moved from the foot of the mountain to the present site and renamed Yuanheng temple. When the Daxiong hall was newly built in 62 of the Republic of China, an ancient stele in 1772 of the 37th year of the reign of emperor Ganlong was found with the name of the abbot of the past dynasties engraved on it. According to the records, the temple has a history of more than 300 years, which is one of the few ancient temples in China. Guanyin Bodhisattva is worshipped in the temple. The temple is solemn and elegant, majestic and majestic. It is close to mountains and rivers, facing the rising sun in the morning and the setting sun in the evening. The platform in front of the temple has a wide view and overlooks the whole city of Kaohsiung.
Yuanheng Temple
Yuanheng temple, formerly known as Yuanxing temple, was built by master Jingyuan in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province in 1743. It is a quiet Buddhist temple. It is located at the foot of Shoushan mountain in Gushan District of Kaohsiung City. Yuanxing temple was destroyed in zhurong in 1891. After many changes, it was transferred to the site and renamed Yuanheng temple. In 1926, the abbot Songji and local believers raised money to rebuild and set up daguyan. When the Daxiong hall was built in 1973, a stone tablet was excavated in 1772, which has a history of more than 300 years It's an ancient temple with a long history.

Yuanheng temple is located in Gushan District of Kaohsiung City. In 1964, the abbot Lin Zhangzhi was too weak to take charge of the affairs of the temple. In the same year, on the Mid Autumn Festival, he invited master Pu Miao to take over as the abbot.
