Tianxiaode folk collection is a typical residence in the late Ming Dynasty. The east-west direction of the house is adjacent to the Nanbei River in the front and the Hougang in the back. It is the only existing front hall and double back hall building in the south of the Yangtze River.
The seven entrances to the five Yi gates are: Baxian tower (gate tower), Xiangwei Hall (main hall), Shibao hall on the left, Liuyi hall on the right, wufuping house, Huihuan dragon hall, crane hall, inner hall building, east-west wing room and back door hall. Each entrance is connected by Yi gate, patio and corridor. There are more than 50 large and small rooms, covering an area of more than 1000 square meters. There are more than 450 doors and windows in the house, which are well preserved. The ancient architecture group has preserved the characteristics of Wu and Su States, with mortise and tenon brick and wood structure. The overall terrain of the building is well connected, with a trend of high step by step. After hundreds of years of paving, the white wall is occasionally mottled, the blue brick is clear and distinguishable, and the corrugated water with Shouzi pattern remains the same. In the house, there are many doors and windows, the fence is hanging, the rooms are related, and the halls are connected. The overall trend is simple and bright, the shape is thick, and the ancient flavor is full of.
In order to ensure the traditional home style of "there is a museum in the cabin, there is a collection in the museum", the exhibition furnishings are displayed in the atmosphere of Ming dynasty or Ming Dynasty, and the hall furnishings maintain the living style of Ming Dynasty dwellings.
There are more than 200000 pieces of cultural relics in the collection, all of which are articles for life and production and some articles for officials scattered in the Yangtze River Delta. The collection includes wooden ware, pottery, porcelain, jade, stone tools, bronze and tin ware, coins, purple sand, silk, embroidery crystal, calligraphy and painting of ancient books, ivory, bone and horn and other miscellaneous items. The collection spans from the Neolithic Age to the Republic of China.
