Overview
Guangzhou Grand Theater covers a total area of 42000 square meters, with a building area of 73000 square meters and a total height of 43.1 meters. It has an opera hall, an experimental theater, a contemporary art museum and three rehearsal halls (Opera rehearsal hall, Ballet Rehearsal Hall and Symphony rehearsal hall), as well as supporting facilities such as ticketing center, parking garage and restaurant.
The building structure of Guangzhou Grand Theater adopts "cast steel structure". The facade is a three-way oblique folded plate reticulated shell, which is composed of more than 5000 pieces of glass and 75000 pieces of stone. It has the same size and different shapes.
Opera Hall
There are 1804 seats in the Opera Hall of Guangzhou Grand Theater, including 1687 seats and 117 music pool seats. The three-layer auditorium is in the shape of "hands embracing" and "stars all over the sky" ceiling. The Opera Hall has asymmetric structure, streamlined walls and special grooves, which are convenient for the sound effect.
The Opera Hall adopts the process layout form of "pin" shaped stage commonly used in the world, which is divided into four parts: main stage, left and right stage and back stage. The whole stage axis is 74 meters wide, 46 meters deep, 18 meters wide and 12 meters high.
The stage lighting system of the Opera Hall of Guangzhou Grand Theater mainly includes: lighting control system, network transmission system, lighting system, dimming system, pipeline auxiliary materials, sound reinforcement system, main sound reinforcement system, auxiliary sound reinforcement system, monitoring system of stage and control room, auditorium and effect sound system in stage.
Experimental theater
The experimental theater of Guangzhou Grand Theater is a small theater with 443 seats (including 44 seats symmetrically distributed on the second floor). The experimental theater is a rectangular building with a width of 18 meters and a length of 26 meters. Experimental theater can meet the needs of conference hall, end stage, extended stage, center stage, T-stage and other forms of performance.
The form of stage and auditorium can be changed by stage machinery inside the experimental theater. Two kinds of lifting platforms are set under the stage to change the form of stage in a short time. All seats are fixed on the air cushion trolley, which can change the layout of audience seats with the change of stage form.
Contemporary Art Museum
The Contemporary Art Museum of Guangzhou Grand Theatre is a cross-border and diversified art exhibition hall jointly built by Guangzhou Grand Theatre and Guangdong Art Museum.
Ballet Rehearsal Hall
Guangzhou Grand Theater has three rehearsal halls, namely opera rehearsal hall, Ballet Rehearsal Hall and Symphony rehearsal hall, with a total area of more than 1100 square meters. Among them, the Ballet Rehearsal Hall is the teaching venue of children's ballet company of Guangzhou Grand Theater.
Architectural features
Guangzhou Grand Theatre is designed by Zaha Hadid, a British Iraqi designer. Its shape is known as "round double gravel", and its main building is "double gravel" in black and white and gray.
There are no vertical columns or walls in Guangzhou Grand Theater. The irregular geometric design makes the appearance of "stone" distorted and inclined. Only the outer surface has 64 faces, 41 corners and 104 edges.
The audio-visual effect of Guangzhou Grand Theater is designed by Marshall, an acoustician and winner of the Sabin prize, which is the highest prize in acoustics. The irregular "hands embracing" stand is adopted to distinguish it from the horseshoe, square or rectangular auditorium used in most theaters. "Embracing with both hands" means that the rising part on both sides of the pool seat in the auditorium overlaps with the balcony, and the grandstand is like "embracing with both hands".
The exterior of Guangzhou Grand Theater adopts the "siphon drainage" system, and the stone on the surface of the theater has four layers of structure: waterproof, heat preservation, heat insulation and decoration effect. It is an open stone installation process, collecting rainwater through the stone joints, and collecting and discharging at any time. At the top of the interior of the theater, more than 4000 LED lights have been installed, which has the effect of environmental protection and energy saving.
