Construction process

The northern extension of Guangzhou Metro Line 8 was approved in August 2007, but Liwan District of Guangzhou spent a lot of money to expand it two years later and will become the Chenjiaci scenic spot of the subway station. People familiar with the matter explained that the project is designed to meet the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou. It has heavy tasks and lacks consideration of overall planning.

This can only be said to be an irresponsible explanation. Chenjiaci square is not a temporary construction project. The construction and Planning Department of Liwan district must consider whether the project is compatible with other projects to be built or newly built after the Asian Games. This is not only a basic common sense, but also a clear requirement of the urban and rural planning law and other laws and regulations. The procuratorial organ of Guangzhou should intervene in the investigation as soon as possible to find out whether the relevant administrative officials, construction and planning departments of Liwan District had transferred the planning drawings and schemes of other projects to be built and newly built, including the northern extension of Metro Line 8, at the beginning of the planning decision of Chenjiaci square project. If there is no transfer record, and the site selection approval procedure has not been completed, it will prove that the then leader of Liwan District and the officials of the construction and Planning Department of Liwan District have violated the requirements of the urban and rural planning law, and the project belongs to malfeasance operation, so the malfeasance responsibility of these officials should be investigated. If the access records can be found and the site selection approval procedures are complete, the problem will be even more serious. It shows that the relevant officials are fully aware that the newly built square will become a "short-lived building", but they are bent on "burning money". Yesterday afternoon, at the construction site of Chenjiaci square, more than a dozen workers were erecting gray bricks for construction enclosure, extending along Kangwang North Road to the junction of Zhongshan No.7 road. The bus terminus of No.268 and no.413 was divided into two parts because of the enclosure wall. The road surface of Zhongshan No.7 road in the south, Longyuan West and other inner streets in the north, and the enclosure wall near Chenjiaci in the West had been built.

The whole square is surrounded by subway construction, and its area is nearly 10000 square meters, accounting for about 50% of the square. In the enclosed area, a large hook machine is in operation. The green land beside the cement floor is beyond recognition. Shrubs and trees are removed. The lawn is full of yellow mud, abandoned steel bars, and yellow wax stone and granite are scattered on the ground. On the pedestrian passageway near the public toilet of the green square, the excavation process of laying cables outside the enclosure is in progress. On the north side of Chenjiaci green square is the famous big stall street. There are nearly 30 big stalls in longyuanli, longyuanxi, longtangheng and other inner streets, and the tables and chairs are set up close to the newly built enclosure wall of the construction site. Along with the Kangwang commercial city at Chenjiaci station of Metro Line 1, the entrance and exit of No. 3 is directly facing the construction site and has not been closed yet.
