Fawang pagoda of Xianyou Temple
Fawang pagoda of Xianyou temple, located in heishuiyukou, mazhao Town, Zhouzhi County, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, China, was built in the first year of Renshou of Sui Dynasty (AD 601). It is the only existing brick pagoda of Sui Dynasty in China, with 7 floors and 35 meters high. The bottom layer of the tower is 8.7 meters square, and the south side of each layer of the tower has a ticket door. The tower's height is reduced layer by layer, and the eaves are overlapped. It is a dense eaves tower.
In October 1998, due to the construction of Heihe water conservancy project, Fawang tower was moved to the North beam of Jinpen village, 2km north of the original site. In 1996, it was listed as the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
Introduction to ancient pagoda

History of Pagoda Temple
Emperor Wen of Sui dynasty built "Xianyou Palace" in 598. In the first year of Renshou (601) of the Sui Dynasty, Yang Jian ordered people to send the Buddhist relics to Xianyou Palace on October 15 to build a pagoda for resettlement, which was renamed Xianyou temple.
During the reign of emperor Dazhong of Tang Dynasty (847-859), it was expanded into three temples, and now there are two temples. Located on the South Bank of Heihe River, the temple is still called Xianyou temple. It has been rebuilt in the past dynasties and now has five main halls. In the northwest of the hall, there is the Fawang tower.
The Fawang pagoda of Xianyou temple has 7 floors and is 35 meters high. The bottom layer of the tower is 8.7 meters square, and the south side of each layer of the tower has a ticket door. When Bai Juyi was the county captain of Zhouzhi County, he wrote the song of everlasting regret here, which has become an eternal masterpiece.
Cultural relic value
Fawang Pagoda: Fawang pagoda of Xianyou temple, an existing Sui Dynasty brick Pagoda in China, is of great significance to the study of Sui Dynasty pagoda architecture and the history of Buddhism.
Relic: in October 1998, because of the construction of the Heihe River water conservancy project, the Fawang tower was removed. During the demolition, three relics were found between the second and third floors of the tower, and then 10 relics and stone tablets were found in the underground palace. The inscription records the date when the tower was built.
