It was the former site of the general headquarters and Political Department of the national revolutionary army. The former site consists of two two-story buildings of brick concrete structure, which are divided into the East and West floors, with the same form. The hotel, which was first run by British people, was named "suitable building", and later changed to gebao drawing line, which has a history of nearly 100 years.

On November 4, 1925, the eastern expeditionary army of the National Revolutionary Army entered Shantou for the second time. The general headquarters and the political department were set up here. Mr. Chiang Kai Shek, the commander in chief and general Gallen, the military adviser of the Soviet Union, once worked in the West building. Comrade Zhou Enlai, the general director of the Political Department of the eastern expeditionary army, once worked in the East building.

In 1988, the site was announced as a municipal cultural relics protection unit by Shantou Municipal People's government. In 1995, it was designated as the first batch of patriotic education bases by Shantou Municipal Party committee. In May 1996, Shantou Municipal People's government decided to set up a "exhibition hall of revolutionary history of Shantou eastern expedition army" in the former site. In August 2000, it was designated as the "patriotic education base of Guangdong Province" by Guangdong Provincial Civilization Committee.
