Kongshen Miao Village

Kongshen Miao village is famous for the Miao women in the village wearing five inch miniskirts all the year round. The miniskirts are 6 feet long, but only 5 inches wide, and are wrapped in layers around the waist. In addition to the eye-catching miniskirts, kongshen also has a unique "Maoren Festival", which is held on the third day of the third lunar month. At that time, young adults and men, regardless of their age and whether they are married or not, can find a partner who is similar to their own feelings to join forces with maorenpo to celebrate Maoren's love songs and amuse them. The festival atmosphere is warm and unrestrained, and the village is very lively. Kongshen Miao Village

Kongshen Miao village is a branch of Miao nationality. It is mainly distributed at the foot of Leigong Mountain, the main peak of Miaoling, and belongs to the boundary of Rongjiang county. From the xiaodanjiang river of Pingyang Township, Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province, drifting down Maoren River, you can reach Liangwang village, Liangwang village and kongshen village, the world's super short skirt Miao village. Because the skirts worn by the girls and women here are less than 5 inches in length since ancient times, and because there are no such costumes in other branches of the Miao nationality, this tribe is called "the world's super short skirt Miao" for short. It also has some special national customs, such as: Maoren Festival, singing and toasting in the way to welcome guests, "robbing relatives", "admitting mistakes", "admitting relatives" and so on.

Maoren's Day (the ancient Miao Valentine's day) is called "laoshali" in Miao language, also known as "climbing maorenpo" and "chamaoren". It is said that in ancient times, there was a custom that men and women in the village were not intermarried. The marriage was arranged by their parents, and all the girls had to marry in other places. Many men and women who had been in the same village had to work hard and separate. The married girls will return to their mother's home to help spring ploughing in March. After working, they invited the unmarried girls and young men to sing in the mountains. They expressed their sadness of being forced to separate from their sweetheart and marry away from home. They also advised their unmarried younger sister not to marry away from home and told her to tell her deep thoughts to her lover. After singing, they often burst into tears. In order to express their attachment to their hometown and lovers, they tied new green branches and leaves and thatch into "Maoren" of different sizes, tied them to the fir tree pole, and then inserted them on the top of the highest mountain. Generally, the two sides were arranged low. The highest one in the middle symbolized the elder sister, and the lower one on both sides was the younger sister. Later, the Miao men and women in tongzhai could intermarry instead of marrying far away. However, this ancient custom has been followed and has become the Valentine's day for young people to talk about and choose a spouse. Every year from March to April of the lunar calendar, adult men and women in the village can go uphill together to play, sing to each other, and zhamao people. No matter whether they are married or not, as long as they fall in love, they can find another secluded place.

Miniskirt dress

The Miao women here wear black slanted Lapel Hulan folded sleeve blouses, a "herringbone" pointed hat made of self-made Qingyun cloth, a silk ribbon tied to the hat, three to five silver necklaces for decoration, and a five inch black pleated skirt and an ankle length embroidered apron. It is said that in the early days, there was no cloth. In order to resist the wind, rain and the sun, women folded bark into pointed hats to wear on their heads and surrounded themselves with banana leaves. Later, with cloth, the folds of the skirt were made into the vein shape of banana leaves in the traditional form. There was no natural flower pattern decoration. Because they had to wade all the year round, they worked uphill and down the fields. The weather was hot and humid, so the skirt was easy to wear It's evolved into a five inch miniskirt.

The custom of robbing relatives

Unmarried Miao young men and women, if they are interested in each other, can also "snatch", the woman directly to the man's home, slaughtering chickens and ducks, entertaining relatives and friends, drinking to celebrate. If the girl changes her mind halfway, the young man can only send her home obediently.
