Nanning Museum

Nanning Museum, located at No.15, Longdi Road, Liangqing district (adjacent to Yongjiang River, the intersection of Longdi road and Songxiang Road), is a local comprehensive historical museum focusing on education, exhibition, collection and research of Nanning's historical and cultural heritage.

Nanning Museum, with a total construction area of 30800 square meters and exhibition area of 12000 square meters, was founded in July 1992

In September 2018, China Museum Association decided to approve Nanning Museum as a national second-class Museum.

In October 2019, Nanning museum was recognized as a national 3A tourist attraction.

From the end of the epidemic to December 31, 2020, medical workers and their families will be free of charge.

Historical evolution

Nanning museum was established in 1992 as a public cultural institution with full financial allocation. To be responsible for the city's cultural relics investigation, archaeological excavation, cultural relics protection, cultural relics exhibition and publicity, the construction of Nanning cultural relics website and Nanning museum website, and to guide and coordinate the business construction of cultural relics protection units, cultural management offices and patriotic education bases. Before the new Nanning museum was officially opened to the public, there was no special site for Nanning Museum. The infrastructure available for the museum was only four cultural relics protection units, namely Xinhui Academy at 42 Jiefang Road, Nanning Yuedong guild hall at 22 Zhuangzhi Road, Nanning Deng Yingchao Memorial Hall and 47-2 Beining street.

Since 1987, after the Municipal People's government funded the maintenance, more than 30 exhibitions have been held. Now the exhibition is fixed with plaques and old photos of Nanning. The Yuedong guild hall, built in the Qianlong period, is a key cultural relic protection unit in Nanning. Now there is only one entrance building, covering an area of 384 square meters. After the Municipal People's government funded the maintenance, it is also open to the public, Now the fixed exhibition is "Nanning old farmer" folk cultural relics exhibition. Deng Yingchao memorial hall was officially opened to the public on February 4, 2007. At that time, the site of the memorial hall was selected as the site of the former Guangxi high court, a cultural relic protection unit. In 2017, Nanning Municipal Party committee and government launched the "three streets and two Alleys" historical and cultural block reconstruction project. In December 2018, Deng Yingchao memorial was relocated here. The newly-built Deng Yingchao memorial hall is a courtyard building with three entrances and two patios, covering an area of 1273 square meters and an exhibition area of 1000 square meters.

New library construction

The total construction area of Nanning museum is 30800 square meters, including 12000 square meters of exhibition hall. The architectural design of the museum has a beautiful shape and unique local characteristics. The shape is just like a string of light leaves, noble and gorgeous Phoenix wings, the flying badminton on the copper drum pattern, the sailing fleet, the facade adopts modern materials such as hollowed out aluminum plate, and is decorated with Zhuang brocade and other national patterns. The unity of modernity, regionalism and nationality means striving, upward, inclusive and harmonious A united modern Nanning. In the hall, a famous designer's creative design of Yong character art installation is displayed, which not only reflects the original meaning of "Yong" of Zhongshui ring city, but also extends the cultural connotation of "harmony and harmony" from "Yong" and "Yong", which is the first creation of domestic museum.

Nanning museum not only has beautiful shape, but also defines its construction strategy as "a city cultural community of dialogue with history, perception of art and inheritance of civilization", trying to build a "growing Museum" with international influence and domestic first-class.

There are five permanent exhibitions in the museum, which are divided into two basic exhibitions: "Yongrong Huagui ancient Nanning Exhibition", "Yongcheng centenary modern Nanning Exhibition"; three special exhibitions: "1929 Nanning mutiny Exhibition", "Dadi Feige Nanning folk song art exhibition", "red clay charm Lu Quanzhi red pottery art exhibition". The five pavilions not only display the history and culture of Nanning in different periods, but also attach great importance to the participation and experience of visitors. In addition to the conventional way of exhibition, the exhibition has made original breakthroughs in the integration of content and space, the combination of cultural relics and intangible cultural heritage, the integration of exhibition and education, and the integration of exhibition and performance. In particular, Nanning folk song art exhibition hall of "flying songs of the earth" displays the charm of intangible cultural heritage and Nanning International Folk Song Art Festival in an integrated way, which makes the museum increase the auditory experience in the simple visual experience space and fully convey the cultural information and connotation of folk songs.

Nanning museum also has two special exhibition halls, two temporary exhibition halls, VIP reception room, multi-function hall, museum restaurant, souvenir shop and other public cultural supporting facilities. Two of the special exhibition halls are built according to the international first-class standards, and a series of domestic and foreign boutique exhibitions have been introduced and held, which has built a new platform for promoting Nanning to carry out international and domestic cultural exchanges.

Visit information

We will open to the outside world free of charge. Spectators are required to enter with valid certificates (ID card, student card, officer card, senior citizen card and driver's license), and children under 1.4 meters can enter without certificates.

Opening hours: from 9:00 to 16:30 every Tuesday to Sunday, and admission will be stopped after 16:00; it will be closed every Monday (the visiting time will be announced in advance for holidays, other important activities and other special circumstances)
