Baiyu temple in Guoluo, located in the southwest of Jiuzhi County, is Baiyu dazizi temple in Sichuan Province. The temple and Baiyu township government are in the same narrow valley, daritang, with its back against the shrubbery of the stone mountain. The terrain is open and flat.

It is one of the largest and most influential Ningma temples of Tibetan Buddhism in the border of Qinghai, Sichuan and Gansu provinces.

The beginning of the construction

Baiyu temple in Guoluo, founded in 1857, covers an area of more than 1000 mu, with a grand scale and unique architectural style. The main buildings are Sutra hall, Buddha Hall, pagoda, large Sutra room, etc. Among them, the great Sutra hall can accommodate more than 2000 monks to meditate and chant sutras at the same time; the small Sutra hall is dedicated to preaching sutras, quiet closed practice, debating sutras, calendar calculation, medicine, etc. the temple holds eight Buddhist activities every year. The scale of the temple is the "Baiyu 10th" from March 1 to March 10 of the Tibetan calendar. There are activities such as basking in the Great Buddha, jumping and performing Tibetan opera. Tens of thousands of people gather in the temple, and the scene is grand. Master lianhuasheng is worshipped in the temple The statues of Gongbao, Animaqing, nianbao Yuze, etc.

Layout structure

On the walls of the Buddha Hall are frescoes by Regong artists. The pagodas are the pagodas of the living Buddha Baiyu Qiaozhi, the eminent monk Agong kanbao, and Dongyu kanbao. The pagoda is the most magnificent. It is 5 meters high and 3 meters at the bottom. The main body is made of copper. It is inlaid with silver and gold, decorated with coral and agate, and inlaid with a right-handed white snail. There is a silver niche on the top of the pagoda, which contains a Buddha tooth. The decoration is extremely gorgeous.

The main activities of the temple every year include the "Tathagata Sanshen" from the eighth day of the first month to the eighth day of February, the Buddhist practice meeting and the 45 day "sitting summer" in July and August.

Opening to the outside world

In 1958 and during the "Cultural Revolution", the temple was destroyed twice, full of broken walls, decaying walls and piles of debris, leaving only one angqian and more than 20 monk houses. After the approval of opening up in 1980, after several years of construction, it has far exceeded the original scale, covering nearly 1000 mu. In the pagoda hall, there are 1 Baiyu Qiaozhi pagoda and 1 Kanbu pagoda. Baiyu Qiaozhi pagoda is 5 meters high and 3 meters at the bottom. The main body of the pagoda is made of copper, inlaid with silver and gold, decorated with coral agate, and inlaid with a right-handed white snail. The pagoda shares 11 Jin of gold and more than 20 jin of coral agate. In addition, there is a silver niche above the pagoda, which contains one Buddha tooth, which is extremely precious. Kanburing pagoda is a little small, and the decoration is very luxurious. In the hall, there is also a footprint stone of white jade Qiao Zhi. In the Sutra academy, there are one set of "ganzhur" and one set of "danzhur" Tibetan scriptures each printed in the United States, which are presented by Tibetans in the United States.
