Zhilin Temple
Zhilin temple, located in the southwest corner of Jianshui County (Lin'an town), Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, faces north from south, also known as Lin'an temple. The temple was founded in the late Song Dynasty. It is said that there were one hall, one square, one Pavilion, two verandas and two towers, but now there are only the main hall and archway of Zhilin temple. The existing Zhilin temple hall is a large wooden structure building of Yuan Dynasty, built in 1295. There are also two fine brushwork frescoes of Buddhism in Ming Dynasty.

Zhilin temple is located in the west section of middle Chengjian Road (now Lin'an Road) in Jianshui County, Yunnan Province, to the west of Confucian temple, known as "Lin'an first temple". Folk is known as "first refers to the forest temple, after Lin'an City" (Jianshui ancient name Lin'an).
Cultural relic value
Zhilin temple is especially famous for its well preserved main hall built in the Yuanzhen period. According to the investigation of ancient architecture experts in Beijing, it is confirmed that it is an ancient wooden frame building of the Yuan Dynasty more than 700 years ago, which is rare in Yunnan Province and rare in China. At present, there are only the main hall and archway of Zhilin temple. In the main hall, there are two Buddhist fine brushwork murals painted in Yongle period of Ming Dynasty. One is a picture of Sakyamuni lecturing, and the other is a picture of Peacock King Ming Dharma Association. In front of Danlong of the main hall, there is Zhilin Temple archway "the first mountain", which is said to be the title of Zhilin Temple visited by Jianwen emperor who came to Yunnan.
Zhilin temple is a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level.
On May 25, 2006, Zhilin temple hall, as an ancient building from Yuan Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, was approved by the State Council to be listed in the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
Legend of temple building
According to the inscriptions, as early as the reign of Dali in the Song Dynasty, it was a dense forest with a common deer. One day, someone chased the deer to the forest, but the deer suddenly disappeared. Only a stranger came to the forest and said to the people, "the deer has lived here for a long time. Why do you take it?" When we have finished speaking, we will never see again. Everyone was surprised. They thought that when they met the immortal deer, they set up a small temple and painted statues to worship. Those who wish for God believe that it is effective, and the incense is flourishing day by day.
Historical evolution
During the Yuanzhen period of the Yuan Dynasty (1295-1297), he Changming, a county man, built a large building here. He invited craftsmen from the Central Plains to rebuild it into a hall and two pagodas. He painted statues of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and great scholars. He lived in the Abbot's residence. He was surrounded by morning bells and evening drums and cigarettes every day. He became a place for Buddhist worship. And take the above-mentioned strange personnel, the book "Zhilin Temple" plaque hanging on the lintel. Therefore, the inscription said: "the temple began in the Song Dynasty, became in the Yuan Dynasty, and flourished today."
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Zhilin temple was built with Tianwang hall, dizang hall, cangjing Pavilion, zhunti Pavilion, Huancui Pavilion, etc. it became a famous Buddhist temple in southern Yunnan.
Today people cherish the relics left by the ancients. In 1998, he raised a large sum of money to rebuild Zhilin temple. According to the principle of "repairing the old as the old", he demolished the inclined wall, replaced the decadent purlin rafters, built a clean blue stone platform, inlaid with stone railings and pillars, paved with blue brick mantle, and repainted all the wooden parts, such as Gables, column beams and brackets with red bricks. The original exfoliated color paintings were also repainted And shine again.
