Aruo temple, also known as "aleke Temple", is located 21 kilometers southeast of Babao town in Qilian county. Tourists often pass by it when they visit Menyuan and other places in Qilian. The temple was built in Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, and its scale was small at the beginning. In 1940s, with the support of aruo Qianhu nankacaiang and Baihu Aduo, it developed and expanded, becoming the largest Gelug temple in Qilian county.
Arrou temple is located on the hilly grassland, surrounded by green grassland rolling, very beautiful. The temple has traditional Tibetan courtyard architecture, main hall, pagoda, corridor and so on. It's very beautiful to take photos outside the building. Visitors can stroll around the temple and visit and worship one by one. In addition, it has not been developed as a scenic spot at present, so the atmosphere is quiet and gives people the feeling of sacred nature.
The major activities of the temple include praying for Dharma in the first month, fasting in April, offering and living in summer in June, Gandan Wugong festival in October, four seasons learning and menstruation meeting in Xianzong college, and rituals for Vajra Vajra and masou Vajra.
Arrou Temple
Arrou temple was originally a quiet house. 30 years later, it was dedicated to the qujie temple in aridarhan. Lidarhan qujie was also called "Ali Hutuktu". The second rosandan bareji was born in aruo tribe. He once studied Tibetan scriptures and expanded aruo temple after returning. The third Sandan bareji established Xianzong college and perfected various legal systems. The number of monks increased to 400 and developed into a regular temple.

According to the brief annals of arrou Temple written by Jiacuo, a living Buddha of the temple, arrou tribe originally lived in the area from qushi'an river basin to Maqing snow mountain in Xinghai County, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture There are nine tribes in bawangqiu, and there are eleven tribes in ahrou, including ahrou Dai Mang and ahrou mang lamuke.
Reasons for construction
During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, sanjiacuo, the third Dalai Lama, came to Qinghai to preach. The leaders of the tribe, Hua sangjiabu and sangjiejia, invited the third Dalai Lama to their pasture and offered a large number of alms. The third Dalai Lama once preached the Scriptures here, which laid the foundation for the future construction of the temple. During the reign of emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty, the fifth Dalai came to Beijing via Qinghai. The head of aruo tribe invited the fifth Dalai to the tribe and asked to build a temple. Later, with the permission of the fifth Dalai Lama, the arjou temple was built in Zhongta under the leadership of xiazha Dalai Lama and arjouranjianbakzunjiacuo. The name of arjou temple is "juxihong fazhou".
Development and change
During the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, a part of the aruo tribe moved to the north of Qilian during the chieftain Quedan period, and rebuilt the temple at the present site, but on a small scale. In the 1940s, with the support of arrou Qianhu nancaiang and Baihu Adou, the temple developed rapidly and became the largest Gelug temple in Qilian county. Before 1958, the temple had 5 halls, 840 earthen houses, 7 giant cattle hair tents and yurts for Sutra and Buddha halls. The temple had 50 horses, 430 cattle and 250 monks, including 15 Living Buddhas. After 1958, most of the buildings were demolished. In 1962, it was opened to the public. There were 23 monks in the temple, and more than 140 houses were built. In 1966, it was closed again and some of the buildings were demolished. On November 20, 1980, aruo temple was reopened with the approval of a new earth house, a sutra hall, 9 guest rooms, 3 tea houses, more than 50 monk houses and a Mongolian yurt Buddha Hall. There are 24 monks in the temple. Transportation information: at present, there is no public transportation. Tourists come here mainly to charter a car to visit Qilian and Menyuan, or around the great Qinghai Lake area.
