This body, this soul, is honed by salty sea water, and baptized by surging waves. For more than 700 years, history has left too many traces of vicissitudes on it. It is Ma Xie.

Culture
annual custom
The rural areas of Maxie and nearby Wuchuan of Zhanjiang will hold the annual calendar every year. The time of the annual calendar is different in different places of Maxie, focusing on the first month of the lunar new year.
According to the records of Xinyi county annals, written by Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, "welcome spring, play drum music, welcome local ox in Chunniu Pavilion, and make a general survey of scholars and girls as music.". Xinyi county annals of Guangxu. Volume one local chronicles ten Customs: "Lantern Festival, city home hanging lantern, relatives and friends gathered to enjoy Xiao drum, sing the sound of Da Dan. "It's more than Nuo in Yuexiang, which is called Nianli." Whenever the land of China is busy preparing for the new year, the MAXIE people in Zhanjiang, who still keep the custom of the year, will be busy in their respective years soon after the new year. However, in MAXIE, it's still years that make people happy. It's a constant program for rural people to do "years", explore "years", and eat "years". Many children are also looking forward to years.
Zhanjiang's "year rule" is derived from the Lantern Festival. Since the Han and Tang Dynasties, the cultural customs of Central Plains have gradually penetrated into western Guangdong, and the custom of holding lanterns for Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival has also been accepted. After combining with the local customs of celebrating harvest and praying and sacrificing, it has gradually evolved into a grand and warm folk festival which is highly valued by villagers.
Wandering
On the night of the Lantern Festival on the 15th of the first lunar month, a fleet of boats carrying lanterns and statues of the king of marquis held a sea worship and praying activities. When the good time comes, a boat on one side lights firecrackers. The team of wandering gods will carry the gods into the sea and accept the bathing of the sea. The sea of onlookers and visitors on both sides of the harbour is very spectacular. The villagers should seize the opportunity to burn incense and pray for good luck in the new year.
Every year, at the climax of the temple fair of the king of marquis, the villagers carry the statue of the king of marquis on a cruise to the sea, reflecting the typical marine cultural tradition.
cultural heritage
Luohouwang temple, the Sixth Batch of cultural relics protection units in Zhanjiang City, western Guangdong Taoist cultural center, youth patriotism education base. Luohouwang Temple Fair has been listed in the fourth batch of intangible cultural heritage list of Guangdong Province. It was built by the people of Ma Xie for the worship of the historical hero, chaolie doctor, Huazhou road manager, Luo Guo Zuo Yimen WuJie, a famous general of Song Dynasty, and the martyr Zhang Youming of Ma Xie. Located in the southeast of Zhanjiang City, East Bank of Zhanjiang Bay, MAXIE Ferry (formerly known as MAXIE News). Surrounded by the sea on three sides, it faces the waterfront park and the sea viewing corridor in the central urban area across the harbor.
In the ninth year of Zhizheng reign of Yuan Dynasty (1349),. Luo guozuo, who was the manager of Huazhou road at that time, and his four sons from Shicheng (now Lianjiang City, Guangdong Province) of the Song Dynasty, safeguarded the people's safety and led 80000 troops to fight against the Haibei pirates. They fought many times and died for their country in 1342. In 1349, his young son, Luo Xianshi, and his pioneer, Zhang Youming, pursued the pirates at sea, and wiped them out in Chengmai sea area of Hainan Province. Later generations feel that Luo guozuo and his son and Zhang Youming benefit the people and protect the country. They have made heroic sacrifices and set up temples to worship Luo guozuo as Marquis of Luo for more than 600 years. The temple is decorated with exquisite carvings and murals, covering an area of 696.7 square meters and a construction area of 459 square meters. It is of brick and wood structure, facing the southwest, and has a statue of marquis. Later, there is a "fan GUI Tuoliang" component, which records the artisans' indignation against the French invaders in Guangzhou Bay period.
In 1898, when the French invaded Guangzhou Bay, the villagers of Ma Xie set up a headquarters to fight against France in Hou Wang Temple. More than 1000 young and middle-aged people gathered at Hou Wang Temple on the fourth day of may in the lunar calendar to pledge to fight against France. They took Luo Hou Wang Temple as the command center of the battle. After arduous fighting, they finally won the victory, forced the French army to withdraw from Ma Xie village, and successfully defended the national dignity. Every year, on the 10th day of the first lunar month and the 22nd day of the second lunar month, there are more than 100000 pilgrims and tourists. On the 15th night of the first lunar month, a fleet of boats carrying lanterns and statues of the Marquis de Roh hold sea worship and blessing activities. They patrol the harbor. There are a large number of onlookers and visitors on both sides of the harbor. In recent years, there are more than 1 million pilgrims and tourists, which is a rare place for religious and cultural worship and blessing in western Guangdong.
The admiration for the Marquis of Luo is the admiration of the people of Ma Xi for the heroes. It not only commemorates the heroes, respects the heroes and protects the heroes, but also condenses the love for the motherland and defends the national dignity. Up to now, it has something to do with Ma Xie people not doing the fifth day of May, but doing the fourth day of May.
In 2012, the temple fair of Marquis Luowang in Potou was listed in the fourth batch of intangible cultural heritage list of Guangdong Province. Luohouwang temple is now a cultural relic protection unit in Zhanjiang City, a provincial intangible cultural heritage and a youth patriotism education base. For more than 700 years, the temples in MAXIE have been commemorating the heroes who protected the country and loved the people and made outstanding achievements in war. At the same time, as a traditional folk activity, the temple fair has been handed down and played a great affinity and cohesion in people's life. It is a very precious intangible cultural heritage to keep the bottom line of the indomitable marine national spirit.
