The most prominent statue of Lin Mo Niang (Mazu) in the park was donated to the municipal government by Xu Wenlong, chairman of Qimei enterprise. A ground breaking ceremony was held on February 2, 2001, and a donation ceremony was held on September 7. Lin Mo Niang Park was officially opened on April 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Taiwan time. Lin Mo Niang Park
Lin Mo Niang (960-987) was honored as Mazu. Born on March 23, 960, the first year of Jianlong, Taizu of Song Dynasty. Mazu culture is a national intangible cultural heritage protection project. Mazu is the embodiment of the Chinese traditional virtue of saving the suffering and helping others. The spirit of Mazu culture is "morality, kindness and great love". The word "Mazu" in Cihai and Ciyuan refers to the goddess of the sea, the goddess of heaven.
Named after Lin Mo Niang, the Park aims to carry forward the feelings of filial piety, so as to express the virtue that the ancestors immigrated to open up their territory and the later generations should drink water and think about the source. The statue of Lin Mo Niang is presented as a young girl. Young Mazu represents a good example of filial piety of young girls. The statue is erected in the best resting place for young people - Hong Kong waterfront Historical Park, hoping that young people can learn the spirit of Mazu.
Tainan Municipal government has also spent more than 5 million yuan to cooperate with the surrounding environment greening, hydropower and lighting project. The park has become a new landmark and scenic spot for sea and land transportation in Tainan City.
The Lin Mo Niang (Mazu) park, which is donated by Chi Mei cultural foundation with more than 20 million yuan, covers an area of about two hectares. Sightseeing route
From Anping old street to the other side of Tainan canal, pass Anyi bridge, pass Gangbin Historical Park, and then you can reach Lin Mo Niang park.
Statue specifications
The statue is 16 meters high and the base is 4 meters high. From design to erection, it took 10 years. For Chinese mainland Xiamen University Art Institute Professor Li Weisi creation, Xiamen Huian folk Carver Wang Wensheng carving. It was also commissioned to be assembled by Fujian Hui'an exquisite stone carving factory, which was approved by Tainan Public Art Committee and donated more than 20 million yuan by Tainan Qimei cultural and educational foundation. The stone used for the statue of Lin Mo Niang is "Baifeng stone" (a kind of granite), which can withstand sea breeze for a long time.
The statue of Lin Mo Niang is different from the statue of Mazu in ordinary temples. It is based on the image of a young girl before Lin Mo Niang died at the age of 28, which represents a good model of filial piety. On the other hand, the bust of Lin Mo Niang was later added by the municipal government. In addition to the statue, there is also a stone tablet in the garden with the words "filial piety becomes a virtue".
Filial piety
Lin Mo Niang is to rescue her parents who have suffered from shipwreck, but she becomes a boschen. The residents of Meizhou began to worship Lin Mu Niang for her filial piety. This park is to commemorate Lin Mo Niang's filial piety, hoping to carry forward the filial piety.
